I don't understand what's so controversial about this. Seems pretty sedate to me.

Style is what you can get away with.

I understand the rules Astaire and Grant are breaking in the OP's pix but I don't mind.

Flusser is my hero who disappoints most frequently. This usually happens when he tries to introduce a contemporary casual element.

Besides the track suit bottom pic, check his deployment of denim in this video at about 2:50.

There is a way to wear blue denim with a striped flannel coat, and Polo or Cucinelli has already rigged it many times, and I've worn it myself (with an old Flusser coat even) but here it's just not happening.

Marcello with french cuffs, humungous novelty links and tweed jacket

and in white Canadian Tux

unsure if these were for roles, so I hold him blameless until proven guilty. caveat: I am such a fan, that I even like his 70s big bow-tie and lapel period.

I'm torn about the shirt. On the one hand, I'd like to see it die a long, agonizing death, as retribution for the atrocity its inflicted on my eyes and general good taste. On the other hand, a quick death means it would be gone faster.

.

Don't mind the cufflinks so much. They aren't themed, so I can't say I'd consider them novelties. Also, I wear French cuffs with my tweed jackets all the time. So that's clearly okay.

what is wrong with the shirt? It's a nice summery stripe.

keep in mind, which you can't tell from the pics, that those are a lot of closely spaced micro stripes, not big butcher stripes. the ground is white

^ fair enough. I'm just not really a cufflink/fc fan. but that was the most questionable image I could find which is saying something. :-)

Your added description isn't helping . . .

The colors are just the worst ever. That peachy yellow doesn't belong anywhere on any clothing. Then, you pair it with--what is that??? Grey? Come on, man! We'll need to assemble a special squad of 10,000-post Senior Members to rescue the rest of your wardrobe from that shirt if you are going to let it live. And don't get all preachy about being humane, when deep down inside you know exactly what humanity needs you to do with that shirt. Man up.

Seriously? Look at it for a few instants, then look around the room. You will keep seeing vertical lines everywhere.

No, that's a blue suit, a lighter than navy slate blue mohair, very nice for summer. The tie is solid navy. I still like the shirt. That pic is from last summer but I wore the exact same combination recently.
