As far as I can tell there are no extra benefits between a silver and gold seller.

Well, you get bragging rights at least.  Wonder why they would have these different levels that really don't translate to any sort of real benefit though.

That's the same question I had. The best guess I have, is it gives you a false plateau to shoot for, so you can in turn make more money for eBay.

When I was researching powerseller stuff I think each plateau had different % FVF reductions. Each level adding 5%. But I think TRS came around and they're using that now. I'm not completely sure, but I think it's a relic from the past.

Uncooperative buyer of the week

Dear weso0119,

I haven't received my order yet, shows by tracking info that it was delivered on The 10th. But not delivered to me.

Back & fourth with USPS

Dear bubba709,

Hmmm... let's check a few things.

Here is the address that was provide to me by the eBay shipping tool:
Xxxxxxx Xxxxxx
1234 Xxxxx Ave
Xxxxx Xxx, XX 12345

It's in a fairly small box, but it you are in an apartment, it may not fit in the mailbox depending on the mailbox size. The box is brown, 6"x 3"x 3" covered on 3 sides with the white shipping label. If there is a separate package drop box for the building, sometimes they turn up there.

Keep me posted,
Wes

Dear weso0119,

My shipping information is correct and it's a business Address with mail box & drop box access but no key was left for drop box.

I found out the our regular Post Man was of off on that day which explains a lot.

It's a shame I was really looking forward to seeing this tie with all of the Elephants with the Lucky Trunk up, we have a Brooks Brothers here at the Bal Harbour Shops and I know it's a past season tie that's no longer available.

I'll keep you posted,
Thanks for the quick response ....

Dear weso0119,

Just wanted to update you on my situation with the local USPS - the package is lost and basically I've been given the run around by them, I tried to submit a claim but was told that I couldn't do it and that it had to be done by the sender.

Wanted to ask you if you could please submit a claim for my missing, lost
Package?

Thanks,

J

Dear bubba709,

Hello J,

There is evidently no claim I am able to make for a first class uninsured package.

Wes.

And here is where it gets sticky

Buyer immediately opens a case......

Initial message on paypal dispute

Item was shipped on the 01/05/2014 and from the tracking number 9400 1096 9993 7225 4547 52 shows up as delivered on 01/10/2014 Item was never delivered to me. Contacted local post office on several occasions to initiate a claim and was told that the seller had to initiate a claim, contacted seller and he advised there's nothing he can do. I've been with Pay Pal & Ebay for many years and have established myself as an honest Buyer/Seller and I feel that a claim needs to be opened.

I've paid for the item and never received it, I have the feeling that the Seller doesn't want to try to resolve the issue I have maintained a 100% on ebay as an honest member.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Dear bubba709,

I am not sure, why there is a claim being opened, We have not even finished discussing this. There is nothing that can be done through the post office since first class parcels do not carry insurance, and none was requested. For all I know the package has been delivered and the tie could be in your possession. Not saying you are lying, but it's just one possibility.

I only stated that there is no possibility of a USPS claim. There was no request from you to do anything else in your last message. You have not asked for a refund or replacement. This is the first you have mentioned that you feel this is my fault, or that I have been uncooperative. I have responded to each of you messages immediately and I thought I have been helpful and cordial. If you feel that this is not the case, I apologize.

What would you like to do?
Wes

No response for 2 days......

Dear bubba709,

So....is there an agreeable solution you can come up with? Would you like to pick another tie? Would you like me to eat the $28 for you? Would you like to split the cost at $14 a piece?

Basically if the dispute gets escalated to a case, they will probably decide in my favor since I have proof of delivery. It would be in your best interest to work it out here rather than escalate the dispute and get nothing.

Wes

Dear weso0119,

I'm not saying you didn't send the Item, I'm saying I NEVER received it, how dare you question my integrity I've been on ebay for a great number of years and have maintained a 100% rating for a reason.

All I asked for as told to me by my local post office is for you to initiate a claim, yes a claim you can initiate one even if there was no insurance on the package.

I don't want anything else from you, not another item, not any form of refund or any money what so ever.

Regards,

J

Dear bubba709,

Please excuse me if I have come across an accusatory tone. That was not my intention. I was merely stating that it could be a possibility that the item was delivered. I would not put it past some people to deal dishonestly. But I do not feel that you have dealt dishonestly. I just don't understand why you would open a case against me as I have been dealing honestly with you. I've answered all your questions, and have been as informative as I can in helping with this situation. I have been on the USPS website, and I have been to the post office. I live in a very small town. The postmaster knows me quite well has i am the number one shipper in the area. Both the USPS website and the postmaster have told me that there is no claim that can be made on a first-class package that does not carry insurance. So there is no claim to open. The only thing I can do is offer you a refund either partial or full, or offer you another tie.

I too have been dealing on eBay for a very long time. I have also maintained 100% positive record. I want to do everything I can to make you happy. But I cannot open a claim on an item when the post office will not let me. I certainly would if I could.

I had recently changed my shipping on ties from free priority to free first-class shipping in order to keep the price of the times below $25. I have now learned that this was a mistake has priority packages automatically carry $100 in free insurance. I will be switching my services on the next round of listings. That way this unfortunate incident will not happen again.

I do not have another Brooks Brothers elephant tie, but if there is another that you might like, I'm happy to send it along to you. Please let me know how you would like me to proceed.

Wes

Dear weso0119,

Listen I know you sent the Item and please believe me when I tell you that I didn't receive it, all I'm trying to find out if the Post Office will cover the expense of the missing package.

I don't want any refund from you unless the post office sends you one or if there is some sort of buyer/seller protection against this type of situation.

If there's nothing that can be done I understand, I don't need anything else it's my loss but put yourself in my place, you order and pay for something & don't receive it and by no fault of yours.

Thanks,

J

Dear bubba709,

I understand that you are saying you don't want anything from me, but there are no other options. There is no coverage on missing first class packages without insurance. Ebay and Paypal are probably not going to be any help either, since the tracking says the item was delivered.

Please let me know if you would like another tie, a partial refund or a full refund. I could even do a $25 store credit if there is something else you see in my store that you like, and you win the item.

Let me know how you would like me to make this right, that way we can take care of it quickly and close the case.

Thanks,
Wes

So, what do you think the chances are, this guy will not take anything for it, and then give me neg feedback.

I think the moral of the story here is to avoid buyers with the "bubba" in their username.

fakeedit: yes I know you can't choose your buyers.

He doesn't really seem like the negative feedback leaving type - if it was me, I'd probably just refund him in full and eat it, as I'd think that'd help you with getting it removed in case he does.
@capnwes now I wish I had bought the elephant brooks brothers tie I saw a while back just to help you out. That's a sucky situation right there.
Problem is, it's a paypal case not an eBay case. Even if he were to lose, which he would, he can still leave feedback on eBay.
Ah right, missed that. I suppose if he leaves a neg on ebay and references not receiving the item, then you could probably get it removed as you have proof of delivery. If he just leaves a more vague complaint you could be SOL.

Though like I said, I don't think he really seems like the neg leaving type.

Hey...color help here...Walnut?

Brand new Church's.

Also, if special ordered in US, will they be US sizing?

I listed 16 things last sunday and only sold two of them.

On the plus side, both of those things were paid for almost immediately. I guess I'll wait to relist these things till thursday. I'm going to slow my roll for a bit I've definitely been way more selective about what I pick up lately. Hoping to break even on the rest of the stuff, which should happen even if it takes hitting the relist button a few times. Already learned a ton from this little side 'hobby'. Y'all have my respect haha.

^i wouldn't bother with paying for the 10 day listing for the relisted items. Just relist for 7 days starting immediately.

I would not have written this to Bubba:

The guy seems honest to me, based upon the conversation.

I had the same situation a few months ago, also with a tie in a small box. The buyer and I were both non-confrontational about it. He opened an ebay case. I gave tracking info again. Ebay refunded his money. I kept my money. Everybody is happy. Ebay is smart to do something like that now and then.

Okay, I'll try that. Is it too late to list at 10 30pm on a Sunday?
