Link to the actual item, not to the 'order details', which nobody but you can see.

Bought a pair of RL shoes from a SF member...turned out to be a smidge tight in the width so I listed them on eBay (link)...tonight I got a message from an eBay user saying "these shoes are fake. just so u know".

Is that possible - is someone counterfeiting RL made in Italy shoes, with boxes and dust bags?  Stamps are all very clear, construction appears nice - nothing is sloppy etc.  Would be a surprise to me if they were fakes, but, maybe someone knows.

Could be a play. Someone tells you something not of value, has another account/another person lowball for them.

Could be.  Some other knob-shiner offered me $20 for them (which was auto-declined...but really, why offer $20 for something that's $224 OBO), but the offer was prior to this message.   A quick search tells me there really is a model by that name, same design, looks the same to me.  Who knows...I'll just ask the eBayer how they know they are fake and see what knowledge they can impart.

650 was his sell price. Checkaflip will show you the sold for price on OBOs. Pretty cool.

Nice trick!  eBay mobile used to show the real sold-for price but I think they "fixed" that.

Re: my so-called fake RL shoes, the expert chimed in with (emphasis mine):

i am not 100% sure they are fake. but these shoes, i have been wanting for a long time and the bottom on urs is wrong.
it is not suppose to have the dotted bottom, if u look at the rl site it should be like this:

http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11828816&cp=1760781.1898623&view=99&omniselect=View_All99&parentPage=family
again not 100% sure but i dont see why they dont have the same ones as rl site

...basically saying the bottom of my shoes, "Garda" model, do not match the bottom of the "Hysen" model he is looking at on the RL site. And because two different models of shoes appear, well, different, mine must be fake. Gotta go end my listing early because I have obviously listed a counterfeit item. Luckily I already blocked them just so they don't accidentally buy them. Dodged a bullet there - thank you mister expert!

So, on a scale of 1 to 10, how do you like the mannequin now?

Sigh. Got damn. I'm wondering if it's worth it to rearrange my room and grab one so I can play along with this hobby...

I feel like it'd make a huge difference for even a hobbyist because it'll make the few things I'd list sell for more.
