Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions - Page 591

I sold a tie a little less than a month ago that the buyer assumed to be fake. He initiated the return process and I told him all was cool and that I'd issue the refund after receiving the tie. He said he'd get it in the mail the next day. Last week, I checked the return status and no tracking info had been uploaded so I sent the buyer a message asking if he had a chance to ship yet and if he had, if he had a tracking number. No response. The return page said that he should have shipped by 1/7. Is there anything I should do or am I still playing the waiting game? I called eBay and they made a note that I contacted them about it but they told me to call the buyer, which seems weird.

I think ebay's stance is that they want to be involved as little as possible, and just collect fees on finished auctions.

This was my best week yet at $1.2k net. But now it's also my most stressful. I fucking hate the shipping aspect, and I have a shit ton of things to ship.

Do you weigh/print/stuff at home and then have them pick up at your door?

You have a lot of posts already...

curious as far as views you guys are getting on your items. i'm a relatively new seller so i could see that affecting the visibility my items are receiving. I've tried doing good research and comparing the title descriptions to get good amounts of views, but i feel like i'm still getting hardly anyone looking at my items. i also try to provide links within my post as a template that leads the user back to the rest of my store or other similar items.

are there any other tips or tricks i should know that could better improve the visibility on my items? how many views on average are you guys receiving on your items?

i know the bigger sellers that are more established probably have more views but anything more i should start doing?

Of course not. He puts handwritten address labels on every single item, carries them to the Post Office, stands in line, and then waits while the postal employee weighs each item and gives him his shipping options. It costs considerably more this way but it is worth it for the social experience.

I'm a student, and really like predictable routine. When I started selling things I really didn't like that one Monday down the road I could need an hour+ to ship things before classes and the next week need only 15 minutes. Awhile ago @txwoodworker posted a pic of his setup and some quick explanation on how he deals with shipping and I copied. Now, when I'm done shooting, measuring, and listing an item, I also package it then and write a number on the outside of the box. When an item sells, I check the description for a number, walk to the wall of boxes and find the corresponding number. I take the box off the wall, print off an adhesive label, and I'm done.

The most I've shipped in a day has been 10 items, sure. But unless a buyer is requesting combined shipping (of which I have had 0 requests so far), I don't have that unpredictable time pileup that forces me to consider being late to class or voiding my stated 24hr handling time. I love it.

Haha, fair enough. I should have clarified. I was sort of baffled. More so curious how many items shipped that meant and how long it would potentially take to get all those out the door.

Obviously, about negative 500% of that was apparent from my post...Sorry.

Use every single character available
Make your listing exciting and different (capitalized random adjectives are trademarked though sorry lol8[1].gif)
Do not keyword spam
Be consistent and truthful
Use multiple keywords to maximize exposure based on different demographics search words(sweater, pullover, jumper) (jacket, sport coat, blazer)
take good photos

Your stuff looks really good. I would add "silk" tie to some of the listings that don't have it. How many views are you getting per 7 days?

Thanks Marc,

I'll look into editing that!

I just redid these postings from how my listings used to be so this is only my first full day so i'll know a little better by the end of the week but most of these have under 10 views as of the first day. mostly being around 1-4 views at the moment. Am i just getting to anxious? I feel like I have such few "watched" items even from my previous listings.

Are you guys getting over 20-30 views a week on average or am I inline with everyone else?

What Master Spoo said...

I've shipped twenty items today (fifteen sales yesterday, five today). I'll add that building the efficiencies into your system before you get big will save you a whole lot of headaches down the road! I was printing shipping labels while watching the 49ers game yesterday. It's only work if you don't love it!

You're pretty much in line with me.

I average about 200-900 pv's a week, depending on what it is. without PTO links more like 200-300
