Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions - Page 581

Quick question on hat size that I have listed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151201252170?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I believe this tweed cap is tagged as a "7x" I know what a 7 is for a hat size but am not sure what the "x" stands for on a hat size. Anyone have any ideas?

What is this thing/ornament on the tie?

Handling time until shipped is counted in business days.  As Wes pointed out, Jan 4th and 5th did not count as business days since they were weekend days.  Buyer bought on Jan 2nd.  Time of day for purchase comes into play - if it was at night, seller may know until Jan 3rd, and hopefully a buyer would assume it would be shipped the following business day, Jan 6th, in which case it was 2 business days, not 6 days later.  If purchased the morning / afternoon of Jan 2nd, seller could probably have shipped it Jan 3rd, but if not then it ended up being 3 business days at most.  I don't think it's a huge deal and maybe merits a neutral only on the "shipping time" star rating at worst, since it was only 1 or 2 days longer in the end (not an extra 5 days).

I agree. As a seller it kind of rubs me the wrong way (pause) when buyers get ruffled over things like this. Unless you dropped him a note while paying saying I need this by XX date I wouldn't concern myself with it. Even when buying from retail stores shipping takes forever. If it comes unharmed and within reason leave positive feedback and maybe drop a note stating that if you need it by a certain date drop the seller a note in payment.

Are you sure it's not a 7 1/4 (tough to tell on the phone)?

or maybe a 7 1/8? Those would be the two choices...but measure it all the way around it (circumference) and put that in the listing as well.

To me it looks like acanthus leaf scroll work with carved rosettes. I've even seen corbels done this way on either side of the big block. Classic ornamentation pattern.

Yeah, you guys are right. The next time I need anything in a certain time frame, I will avoid eBay and buy from somewhere where there's more guarantee of it being shipped on time.

+1, I find that hats (especially tweed caps) almost never measure the same size as the size they are tagged.

- After sale buyer requested a change in shipping. He did not want to pay the additional charges via Global Shipping.

- I cancelled the sale and relisted the item at our agreed price and sent via First Class to Canada.

- After he recieved the item, he complained about shipping. And then after I showed him the shipping cost he then stated the jersey was too short.

- I asked him to return and he did not want to pay the return shipping. So we agreed to discount the item by $10 and let him keep the jersey.

- He then left negative feedback on the original listing and positive feedback on the listing that we completed the transaction.

Question is: Can I have ebay remove the feedback on the original listing since we did not complete a transaction there?

What is the eBy users name?  I need to block it.

Happens from all businesses, not just eBay.

Yo eazy. Could you give another rundown on your eBay horror story? I can't find it and am trying to remember what the whole deal was. Sorry you're having to deal with that shitty situation.

Just a followup on this. So I sent an item to auction and to test this theory I watched the item from my girlfriend's account. The watch list now says the listing ended, and 'View Similar Items'. The notifications area also says the same. The kicker is that when I click on 'View Similar Items' I get tons of listings, but my own relisted item is nowhere to be seen.

Sending your item to auction doesn't notify the watchers, effectively making your item anonymous all over again. I surely must be making some mistake. This can't be right. Right?

I'm pretty sure it shoots an email to the watcher telling them that it's been relisted. Have her check her email maybe.
