"This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard all year. While I can not see any photographs you have sent, I assume you have attached something from a more recent line of brooks brothers. This is a vintage brooks brothers suit from the original Golden Fleece line. Anyone with a computer who would take the time to do 5 minutes of searching could see find that out. I do not sell knockoffs, and rarely would I ever sell anything made in China. This is an American made suit which exhibits top quality standards of the brooks brothers company. I am truly pained that your lack of knowledge and understanding of the 195 years of brooks brothers products has resulted in these false accusations without first researching the matter. Furthermore the vintage labels you have disputed were clearly shown in the photos of the listing. If there were questions in your mind about them you should not have purchased the suit without the slightest inquiry. This could have been cleared up before purchase. "

BTW, he is returning them on his own dime, which to me is an indication that he knows I am right on the authenticity matter.

That's how I would like mine to end up, he paid an unrealistic BIN price and now he's regretting it, man up, pay the shipping.

Yeah, but it'll help offset the costs. I only do it on NWT listings. I feel a little bad for the one guy that's been hit by it: he basically paid $19 to try on a sweater.

I usually cap my restocking fee off at the shipping cost, since I am really only trying to recover that. In other words, I won't charge $50 restocking on a $500 item.

The soles are in fine condition. It is the tops I'm unhappy with. The shoes have significant creasing, the listing pictures with shoe trees looked ok to me, but without the trees, they just look old. In addition, the metal eyelets are supposed to be painted brown, most eyelets have peeled/ chipped paint, it looks uneven and unattractive. They are not in the condition I was expecting. Thanks

I accepted the return and moved on, I'll shoot him a message with my thoughts on his inability to look at pictures.

I have never actually charged a restocking fee even though I advertise it. It's mostly there to discourage frivolous returns and since you can still get hit with the negative even after accepting the return I'd rather leave folks with a decent taste in their mouth. I won't refund original shipping tho.

Sad that things seemed stacked against you as a seller. The pictures cover pretty much all angles, both shoes, and in great detail. Hard to see this as anything other than fit or buyer's remorse.

Great listing.

Any thoughts on starting auctions tomorrow or Sunday? Timing seems too close for Christmas but I do want to clear out stuff before end of year

My eBay app drove me crazy with the sound of cash registers all night when I had some auctions going - made a noise when I got a bid, when it sold, when I got paid.  All night long, until I figured out how to shut it up.  Now only my gmail makes a noise when I get a message and I can't figure out how to shut it up completely.  Because this modern technology frightens and confuses me.

That's cutting it too close, if the auctions end on 12/22.  I've got 2 NWT items to list tomorrow as BIN, then I'm done until after New Year's for listing stuff, I think.

I turn all sound/vibrations off on my phone at night. That stuff would drive me nuts!

I'm still listing BIN stuff through the next week. My mother-in-law is flying in from BC for Christmas, so I'm sure there'll be some downtime!

thx.

I bought this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271237278515?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D271237278515%26_rdc%3D1 for an offer price of $60 plus $20 shipping.

I hardly use the base and replaced it with the metal base from an old mic stand and a piece of black gas pipe so I can use it table top.

I would like it better if the wood was darker and maybe even the fabric cover was dark vs cream.

Still it works, is an ok price. shipped fast. plus that seller has a hundred types.

Hi all, lurker but not a poster, but would appreciate any opinions from people who've dealt with this before.

I’ve had a buyer file a chargeback for unauthorised payment for a jacket he bought last month. The guy paid for the jacket + delivery costs, but I suggested that since he lived near to me we might as well do collection in person.

He agrees and we meet, I hand over the jacket. He kept me waiting around for a while, so says it's fine for me to keep the postage costs, and we part ways.

He messages me the day after saying he’s thinking about returning it, but is going to mull it over. I contact him again a few days later, and he replies that he’s actually happy with the jacket, and that he will keep it.

Jump to yesterday - Paypal have suspended the payment from my account , saying that he’s filed for a chargeback on an unauthorised payment.

He’s not made any effort to contact me to return the jacket, and so if this goes his way he’ll have the jacket and the money. He’s no longer a registered eBay user, which makes me suspect that he’s probably just charging back all of his purchases now, knowing that no-one can retaliate with feedback.

So I’ve got the messages stating he’s happy with the jacket, but no other proof of delivery. Is there anything I can actually do in this situation? Luckily I keep some money floating around Paypal for pain in the arse eventualities like these, but it still sucks. Obviously Paypal say they’ll “put together the best case to fight the chargeback”, etc, but I’ve dealt with them too much in the past to really believe they give that much of a crap.

Any thoughts? Just hand over the money, move on and state that in future I only take cash payments for collection in person?
