The usps is supposed to be entirely self supported and should not be affected by the shutdown. That's what they told me.

My packages were a little slow this week. 2-3 day priority instead took 3-4 days. Could have been because of Columbus day last week?

Columbus Day is likely to blame.

Yea, I had a guy leave "took a week to arrive one state over" when he purchased Thursday night (and I shipped on Tuesday) b/c of the holiday.......jerk.  I was away Friday (had my vacation notice up) and ebay does not count Saturday and Sunday as shipping days, Monday post office is closed and the package shipped Tuesday Priority Mail...

You are doing it wrong. My post office picked up my packages on Columbus Day. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

My post office did not pick up on Monday or Tuesday when the order was put in (for Tuesday)...they must have gotten too busy. I had to wait till Wednesday and they finally followed through.

Just a really quick note on this... its not a $5 one week deal. its a marathon, not a race. Every buck counts. TOTALLY Not minimizing the dickishness of the buyer, just saying.

Thanks, guys. I guess a holiday would make sense, but my tracking hasn't updated for several days (a first) and I noticed Spoo and others experiencing weirdness, and also reports of on-site tomfoolery from a couple SF'ers I'm shipping things to. I keep forgetting the post office is 'independent', though. biggrin.gif

Very true, however a $5 profit on an item I paid $40 is not worth my time, yet. At my current volume I figure that I need to make a minimum of $20 per item to justify the time spent. When I'm at your level, my attitude will be different.

Especially since your margin isnt as high as usual thrift purchases, I think we all would do the same. It's surprising what people will offer. Best thing you can do it relist it if it doesnt sell because it will sell, just not as soon as some of would hope it would.

Posted my first three listings tonight. Other than the spare descriptions, what needs work? I think I nailed the pictures - no post-processing. Threw up some crazy BINs, more validating past personal experience on ebay than anything I've seen on here; probably won't work, want to try it anyways though.

AE Park Ave

Florsheim Imperials

Church Monks

Couldn't get the lighting how I wanted it for my mannequin, hopefully that'll be ready by next Fri/Sat.

Simplicity at it's finest...but I would never bid on them due to your 3 day caveat and opening up an unpaid buyer case. Life happens and sometimes people cant pay on an item within 3 days. Would you really want to put someone off from bidding just because they know they cant pay in 3 days? Yes it is allowable under Ebay guidelines, but with that, it's a bit negative to an auction that looks good otherwise.

Very good to know; next auctions won't be so strict. I haven't had a store in ages, what is the automatic unpaid item assistant set to? I thought it was 3-4 days and was trying to emulate that.
