Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions - Page 371

OK, I'm finally realizing (admitting?) I'm never going to get around to listing all the stuff sitting in my basement if I wait till I feel like it.

So, new resolution (starting small): gonna least at least one item every day when I get home from work, before I do anything else. We'll see if that will work.

This will take you what 3 years to list everything (I am assuming you are continuing to thrift through this process).

One more than you take in will work. This means you have to list everything you buy that is destined for Ebay everyday. I'm trying to do that as well... I've gone from 140 listings to 180 in less than a week.

As long as I force myself to sit down and do it, I'll probably get rolling sometimes and do several at a time. Telling myself I only have to do 1 a day just makes it more palatable. smile.gif

Hopefully it doesn't become a task or chore now, instead of a hobby. That would take the fun out of it.

I quit thrifting until Oct 25th in order to list some backlog and still only manage to list maybe 25 new items per week (relisting is easy)...because I am lazy.

+1

I had a few hundred things to list and only got 50 done in the last week. Even that stopped feeling like a hobby and more like work...

Of course a lot of this is stuff from when I first started thrifting that I would never buy now. Brooks Brothers traditional shirts, Columbia shirts, even a few BR pants... Once I clear that stuff out by selling it for cost on eBay to bump up my feedback or re-donating it I think I will be much happier. My current thrifting I leave with a lot less than I used to but much higher quality so less to list and more profit for my Ferrari (Beach Condo down payment in 10 years or so when my kids are out of the house).

F###ing ebay. Won't let me list a Reis of New Haven Tie in used condition. Says there is a conflict between the thread title and the description

Can you still do the condition as unspecified?

Pro tip: Organize your inventory into similar items as specifically as possible. Like white shirts or non-iron shirts or better yet, non-iron white shirts. Then use the sell similar feature to prepopulate most of the listing. Make sure that you develop a systematic way to enter the differences between the items so you cut out inaccuracies in the listings. This method saves a lot of time.

No, it doesn't list that in the pulldown menu and will not let me fill in a different thing in the block.

At the top of the drop down, denoted by the hyphen.

Not sure if it will work or not, but unspecified is always a refine option on ebay searching.

I know where you are referring to. I tried and it would not let me do it. "unspecified" is not listed and it will not let me fill in my own value.

Can you list as Reis of New Haven Tie in EUC?

Is anyone else having trouble with Ebay right now?

I'm working on listing a few things and the 'Sell' link at the top right of the page seems to come and go. And the sell page is REALLY slow when it does work.

Yes, this.

There are several tricks that help.

Play games like once I get up to ten of a specific item (shirts, or blazers, or suits), I'll stop and spend a couple hours listing all of that particular item. Or my favorite, no shopping 'til I've listed what I just brought home.

Have a well organized space for your stuff, one you like to spend time in. After a while, you may find that you'd actually prefer to check your store and list a few items rather than watching another rerun on TV.

Learn to love the validation of getting paid for one of your finds. That's the best listing motivator I can think of.
