But like I said, ever since I've been using a new camera, i haven't ran into that issue

Some cameras, including the one in the iPhone, use the EXIF data - specifically the Orientation tag - to set how a photo is oriented. And to make things more complicated, some programs and browsers read that EXIF tag and use it for how to display the picture...and some don't. Ebay probably changed how they handle the EXIF data recently.

I found a program called EXIF Editor that helps, since I take all my photos with my iPhone. I upload them all to the computer, use EXIF Editor to set the Orientation tags to 0 (you can do it en masse), and then use an image editor to rotate them however I want them when I'm doing my other edits.

For WAYWRN pics and other shots that I want to post from my phone, I edit the pics in the PS Express app, and when it saves the files it saves them without any EXIF data. That's too clumsy to do for a lot of pictures at once, though.

The mysteries of eBay we will never understand.

Listed this a while back

J Press Suit Wool 44R 37/27 Beige Gray Pin Stripe Flat Front Cuff 3 Roll 2 EUC

The guy didn't like the color and returned it for a 90% refund.

Re listed is 3 times, ending each time with zero bids.

Then this happens last night.

Dumb question.

A while back I thrifted a handful of shirts custom made for a local man, who's a kinda famous geeky, ex-richest man in the world.

I thought it was a cool thing to show off to friends etc etc, but as you'd expect the novelty soon wore off, and now I kinda want to get rid of them.

Is in in poor taste for me to list them on ebay using the guy's name? anyone have any sort of experience selling this sort of thing? or is it skeevey of me to even consider this?

Me too. Worst possible week for me. Will not be taking advantage.

Just Looked at my eBay seller dashboard, I seem to meet all requirements except the 3k and 100 transactions.  I think Ill get there in about another 6 weeks or so.  I need about 50 more transactions, and only 800$.  Curious to see what that does for me!

You don't need an ebay store for this. Just set the automation rules from your seller manager page.

I once sold Roger Goodell's Zegna suit. Didn't list it as such in the title, but did say that it was from a famous sports personality and pictured the name.

Had a pleasant surprise with a recent listing. This item has had more traffic than anything I've ever sold. I had to check PTO site to see if I was magically publicized. To my humble surprise I was not. In fact I knew that this particular item would never be on PTO. But I sure don't mind picking them up in the future at thrift stores.

I see an ass load of j crew in the thrift stores, is there a guide to separating the wheat from the chaff?  Peeps here talk like it's a great brand.  It's like trying to keep up with the Ralph Lauren crap.  I have a post right now in the PRL Q&A trying to figure out if I scored or not.  I'd love to know.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Not sure what is valued but if the label has two dots it's j. Crew factory. Made the mistake of listing it as normal j. Crew but luckily never got negative feedback nor complaints

Anything "Ludlow" will sell well. It is the more recent slim cut stuff. Some of it is better quality then others, but it is all in very high demand.

Anyone receive an email from eBay asking for participation in helping to not pass a law against small businesses online taxes proposition by congress? Just received it this morning and granted I don't do enough business for me to probably see a change for me personally, I'd like to know what others take on it is.

It's going to totally suck for all of is if we have to charge and report sales tax for all states.

According to Wikipedia the Marketplace Fairness Act will apply to those with annual gross receipts (of remote sales) over $1,000,000.

Sounds like I just need to create an action in Photoshop to rotate the pics to vertical and batch process all of the vertical shots through Bridge. Hopefully that works, as that's the quickest way I know to do all of this. Unless I can set up a batch process to strip the EXIF data out of the files?

Wow. It has been a strange week for me on eBay. I have two stories to tell, but only one for now.

I sold a new laptop case and shipped within an hour of payment. USPS showed it as delivered three days later. Everything was great right? Wrong. Buyer opens a case without messaging me, saying they never received it. Hmm, tracking sure seems clear. I give the buyer the benefit of the doubt and investigate it further. Post Office looks up tracking and tells me it's delivered. Buyer sends very strange responses almost dodging my questions with him.

I double check seller protection, thinking, who is dumb enough to try to file this claim when it was delivered. Guy has good feedback so I am thinking maybe he didn't get it.

Seller protection is clear. If you ship with tracking and it shows as delivered, you are covered. I called eBay anyway and they confirmed that I would win the case he opened, and if he appealed, eBay would refund him if he won, but they would not take any money from me. I then told him I would not issue a refund, and he complained but then randomly decided to close the case.

Was he just trying to pressure me into a refund but then caved when I wouldn't? I hope I don't get negative feedback for this, but I am baffled he would close the case if he truly didn't receive it. Below are our conversations, just in case this may help someone else in the future on here.

Our conversations

Him Quote:
"I have not received my item yet and it said that it was delivered yesterday. Please advise on when it is coming, or if you delivered it accidentally to the wrong address. Regards, ******"

Me Quote:
"Hi, I am not sure why you have opened the case. You have not sent me any messages prior, but I see the package was delivered yesterday on April 19th. As eBay requires, I sent it to the address you had on the eBay checkout page, and shipped promptly as promised. As you can see by the tracking, listed from the moment I shipped the case, it was delivered to the address you provided. Did you open this case by mistake?"

Him Quote:
"No, I did not open the case by mistake. I still have not received the item you supposedly had shipped to me. What address did you send it to?"

Me Quote:
"The address is: ******************  Is that not your proper address? That is the address you provided to me at checkout."

him Quote:
"That is correct. I will contact usps and ask. Once I get my item, I will close the case. Regards, *********"

Me Quote:
"I am happy to hear that is the right address. I am sorry that this has occurred. I have never seen the Post Office mark something as delivered if it wasn't. If there is anything I can provide to the post office that will help, just let me know."

Quote:
"If you could, could you ask them why it has been marked as delivered when it has not delivered to me yet? Regards, *******"

me Quote:
"Hi, I just tried to call your local post office, but they did not answer. Perhaps that is because it is Saturday. If you want to give them a call, here is the number and address:************. If you get ahold of them, please let me know. The Post Office only marks delivered when they deliver the package. Are you sure it did not get left with someone in your home? "

him Quote:
"I called my local post office and set up a case with them. I have never received my item, I was here the whole time yesterday. I will close the case when I get a response from the usps and get my item. Regards, ******

Him Quote:
"I am very sorry seller, but it has come down to this. I have not received any communication from USPS, and am very frustrated that nothing has happened since last Friday! I really loved that sling sleeve case from the moment I saw it for my computer, but it has not come yet. Please send me another exact bag, if you have one, or please advise me on what I can do. Regards, ********"

Me Quote:
"Hi, I am not sure what else I can do. I shipped the package through the eBay shipping service and provided tracking along the way. I think your best option is to consult your Post Office again. I think that you mentioned that they said they "didn't know" about where the package was? I spoke to my post office who looked at the package and said it was delivered. I would contact your Post Office to learn more information. See if the carrier mentioned how they delivered it. Did they leave it with a neighbor? Did they leave it at your door? I would call them again and see what they say. I have to trust the post office. I pay them the cost of shipping and tracking and they say it was delivered."

WHERE IT GETS WEIRD

Him Quote:
"I actually got a hold of our mail router(the person that does the USPS route every day) today and she said that she did not put the package with anybody, and remembered having a bag in a package but did not know what was going on. Today, I called in again and created another case that in which I was told that "I would get a call in 1 business day", but I know that this is to no avail. I sincerely do not know what to do, I also called the customer relations and they said that they will call me back and never did, so I am very indignant about this whole situation right now. At this point you would have to consider either getting me a replacement or refunding me the money, which wasn't what I thought it would come to. Please advise me on what to do. Regards, *****"

Does that not spew BS? He now claims he spoke to the carrier who remembers a package WITH a bag, but doesn't remember anything else? Hmm...

Me Quote:

"Unfortunately, I am not going to issue you a refund or replacement. You just confirmed that your Post Office remembers receiving the package and saw that your sling sleeve was in the package. This is all information you did not mention previously, but confirms that the package was delivered. Why would your Post Office "router" have full knowledge of the package but not remember delivering it to you? The Post Office delivered the package and confirmed they did through tracking. Any issue you have further, should be with your Post Office to investigate why they marked it as delivered. I trust the post office's tracking system."

Him Quote:
"No, that is not entirely correct. I described that she said that she had a package that she thought was a bag judging by the size of it(how can she open it is sealed!), and that she did not remember what happened. Although you may not believe me, I am not telling a lie. I really wanted that case for my brand new pro, and you can trust that I never wished this to happen. If I do not get a response from the ever so unresponsive USPS BY TOMORROW, I will have to escalate this issue up further, and I am truly sorry. If you would want to help out, I suggest you call the number I am incessantly calling for help which is 1 800 ASK USPS(ask usps in numbers), and ask for ******** postal service. Regards, *********
Him Quote:
"Also, I would not trust the USPS service as I am impeccably tired of calling to no avail."

Him Quote:
Buyer closed this case on Apr 23, 2013 because of other reasons. This case won't count against you when determining your seller standing.
Buyer's note:
"I am sick and tired of dealing with this. Please do not send me any further emails."

Anyways, happy ending, for now...but really weird.
