Yeah, I edited my response to account for that. That said, if it was an innocent mistake, the buyer could politely ask for some sort of compromise short of a return. It really depends on how much he likes the tie he got.

@drlivingston totally agree with you - If it came as pictured in the box, as it was described (which was minimal) then although it might be what was expected she sold the item as photographed with no returns. You might be able to force a return if you really really wanted to but I would side with the seller.

Yeah I agree with you guys. I already left her positive fb and I'm not going to push it further with the seller.

Wow. Did not know this. Will reach out to the buyer.

Looking back, the tie isn't really a crazy enough print to be a quindici (at least the ones I've seen) so that should have been my red flag. oh well.

If you were looking to flip, you should be able to at least break even if that is a recent nice looking Zegna with the diagonal "*** Ermenegildo Zegna ***" thing in the blade tip. A year ago I would have tried selling that design (if recent) for 40-80. And you could sell the box for an additional 10-15. Lemonade and all that.

On another note, just saw this:

Absolutely not shell.

Pet peeve - people that make an offer, purchase the item, then before paying start asking questions about condition, authenticity, will this fit... DRIVES ME NUTS.

I change my stance completely on the tie. IMO not as described after seein the pictures.

Although the seller might not have honestly known the difference

Thats what I told her in a very nice FYI email this morning and they sent me back a long list of ALL the shell model numbers.... thought I was going crazy so wanted to double check. That said, this old list on AAAC does have that number for Leeds... I think the list is wrong or they changed #'s of the years.

Curious what you guys think of this from a buyer's point of view.

I bought a NWT Zegna tie that I believed to be a quindici tie based on the box that was in the pictures that the seller listed it with.  However, once I received it, I realized the tie was actually just a regular mainline tie.  I paid up a bit for this one and she didn't have it anywhere in her listing (her listing title literally was "tie") whether or not it was quindici or not.  She also doesn't accept returns.

How would you guys proceed with this type of scenario?

Should be an easy case for not as described.

By Ebays definition New with tags is

"A brand-new, unused, and unworn item (including handmade items) in the original packaging (such as the original box or bag) and/or with the original tags attached."

The box is obviously not the original box, so...

The shell list has been incorrect on several occasions. I think you actually got burned once a few years back IIRC.  I had a corrected list with all the incorrect AE numbers removed, and dozens of oddball shells added, but when my mac imploded a year or so ago, I lost it.

You do, but it is probably an older version, I believe I had added probably 25-30 new ones since I had shared it.

This is the list that I prefer. It is more comprehensive than the AAAC list:

http://fityn.com/official-shell-cordovan-shoes-model-numbers-guide/

It does have 9548 listed as shell. But those are clearly not shell.

Hey guys, how should I title these pants?  Polo, 100% Linen, made in Italy, with a lot of cool details.
