Neither I nor the seller could understand why this was happening until I realised it was because I had been signed into the German site when I made the purchase. Leaving aside the tone etc it might not be a scam.

How was the problem solved?

We traded messages and the seller gave me his address for the return. He told me what his restocking fee was. I agreed and sent it back. That was it.

I'll wait for confirmation from a more senior member or two before I post his username. But, what happened was I bought a jacket from an international seller and paid via PayPal (goods and services). The jacket was advertised as "brand new without tags." I received the jacket a couple of weeks later, and as I opened the package, a very strong smell of cigarette smoke crept out. The jacket REEKS of stale cigarette smoke and cologne. I examined the jacket and there are signs of wear on the collar, looking like it'd been worn. I messaged the seller about this and no response. I messaged him again the next day, still no response. I opened a case on PayPal and he contacts them within a couple of hours of the case being open. I messaged him on here again, and he still hasn't responded. He told PP that I am lying, the jacket is brand new, and that he doesn't even smoke. PayPal said I can return it for a refund, but it has to be tracked to his door. With USPS, this leaves me in the $80-ish dollar range for shipping.

He refuses to respond to me. PayPal won't provide a return shipping label. If I want my money back, I have to spend about $80 on shipping and lose that money. The dude is a scumbag.

From your perspective, it was easy. But what about the process from his end of getting his Ebay fees reversed and all that?

The buyer in this case has created a huge amount of work for the seller. It may be an honest mistake, but frankly, if someone costs an hour of my time for something that should've been handled in less than 5 minutes, I'm going to be a bit pissed, and not want that person coming anywhere near my store again.

Quick question.  Any ideas on the pattern on the older Gucci tie?  I'm not sure if that is a buckle or what.

Anybody have a resource to determine approximate sizes for women's clothing.  I found a vintage Saint Laurent Rive Gauche banded collar silk blouse with the size tag removed.  If there isn't any resources here are the measurements for your opinions on size.  Its 19" pit to pit, 25" length, 17" shoulder & 22.5" sleeves.

How long do you guys give SF members between calling dibs on something and listing it on eBay? Getting a little frustrated at people stopping just short of actually paying.

I have a package I sent to Norway through Priority International Express.  It's been about 20 days now, and I haven't received any other tracking updates other than it's been received at the local facility.  I haven't heard anything from the buyer as of yet (no feedback, no messages).  From everything I read there doesn't seem to be many issues shipping to Norway, but not sure what's taking so long for tracking to update.  Anyone have any experience with shipping there?

Should I be proactively trying to locate the package with USPS?  Should I contact the buyer?

EDIT**** - question answered through PM - use this site if you ever run into these types of issues, extremely helpful!  http://www.trackitonline.ru/?service=track

thanks @1ofTheCoolKids!

Couple days if your going to auction it but if you are doing a BIN OBO just list and and when they pay take it down. I would just send a note that its going to be put up for sale, no holds, etc etc. Too many people dont follow through
