Some people suffer from a sense of "1995 was only ten years ago". I'm one of those people, but I never put "recent" in my listings. At most, I'll say "current label" if I know for sure.

Weird question, but I just sold my first item on eBay.  On mobile how do you check if the buyer has paid?  In the "item has sold" email, there's a link to "check payment status" but it doesn't actually show me anything.  Just what it sold for.

Also, what do you guys think... this buyer seems really weird.  Brand new eBay account with no feedback.  He does a best offer for the BIN price (4 hours after it is listed).  Now he emails me and tells me that he paid for the item and has a convenient screenshot.  When I log into the web version of eBay, it says the item has not been paid for.

Don't ship it until he pays, same goes for waiting for payments to clear too. If he doesn't pay open unpaid item case. If it closes without payment you get your fees back. Relist it.

Obvious scam... Don't ship until Ebay shows that the item is paid for. On the mobile app, go the sell tab and it should show the item as "paid-ship now".

would you mind specifying what the item is?

i'm not looking for specifics or a link to a listing, but i'm forever curious what categories/price points/etc scammers are targeting.

The buyer may have paid with an e-check. I recently had a buyer who was adamant that he had paid. I showed him my screenshot that said 'awaiting payment'. I decided to check the PayPal transaction and saw that it said that the e-check had been received and was being processed.

I think it usually will show an hour glass in the $ sign area.

Thanks guys.  I'm just using the mobile website vs the app, and it just says "sold item" not "paid-ship now"

I'm thinking about reporting the buyer (not that it will do anything).

Samsung Gear VR.  It was listed for $80 with free shipping.

e-check means that paypal is trying to process the debit transfer, but if there were no funds in the bank account it will fail, be careful basically.

I once had a somewhat negative transaction as a buyer, and wasn't going to leave any feedback. But then the seller sent two or three messages requesting feedback. So I obliged, with a neutral feedback...

I got pretty annoyed recently by a seller who trolled for pos FB via PM, AFTER I had received the item and given him his moldy green donut. Didn't update my FB with a negative comment, but he got a tart reply.

For me, I look at it this way. I have a healthy 1100+ positives from 16 years of eBaying, both buying and selling. My Paypal account is grandfathered in to not hold funds when I get paid for an item. At this point, any fresh feedback is pretty much gravy for me. I mind my business - I accurately photo and describe items, package them right, and often ship within an hour or two of receiving payment (my PO, crappy as it is, is literally up the street from me). If you're a buyer and those things make you want to leave me a moldy donut, good for both of us. If not, I've been paid and I am happy.

Just an update.  I reported the guy this morning, and eBay has already banned said buyer.

So, this was your first transaction? Welcome to eBay! lol As a new seller, even when someone pays, you will not see your money for a while. eBay will place a temporary hold on your funds.
