I'm pretty sure I could fight the return if it was just the fly issue, since the pictures are pretty clear. I've fought stuff like that before. I just refunded the buyer, but blocked him because of his attitude, and for not looking at the listing in the first place.

From his other feedback left, it doesn't seem he's in the habit of leaving negatives. Fingers crossed... I'm only out $12.50 on the purchase.

He came off to me ok. Not super pushy just saying unhappy and wants it resolved. I'm ok with that. I don't think he would be the type to leave you a neg. I would have handled it the same as you. Half the battle on ebay is learning how to navigate these waters.

Yeah, this is the first such issue I've missed in quite a few months. With over 6500 sales at this point, you'd think I'd have it figured it out. I guess I'm not as perfect as I think I am. :foo:

In other news, I met with a photographer friend earlier today, who I'm going to contract quite a bit of my photography out to. This should help me greatly expand my business.

That feeling when the work is done….

Hey guys, for some reason I have a pending balance on my paypal account, similar to when I started using eBay. I haven't had any pending balances that I couldn't withdraw in like two years. Anyone else run into this?

I'm certain this has already been covered in detail, and if folks want to point me generally to how many pages back that's fine. But what's the current collective thinking on the most recent ebay move to 30 day returns for top rated seller? Does top rated seller even freaking matter? I look at Spoo and I think clearly not. The shipping discounts are nice, especially now with the USPS rate increases. But I've got to think it's totally meaningless to the buyers themselves, right? And as far as returns, ebay's going to force a return if it wants to anyway.
So it seems like the net is: I have a return policy only so I can get shipping discounts.

The Final Value fee discount is nice too. It works out to $300+ per month for me. I do think the average buyer cares more about your feedback...

Ugh.

I freaking hate that they're forcing me to take crap that could be completely out of season. And that mofos could have worn for 30 days.

God DAMN I hate eBay.

SPOO: I need you to accelerate the timing on your competing system please. And I'm going to get on top of that Class Action law suit.

While I enjoy the final value fee discounts, I am unwilling to switch to 30-day returns. It is just an unreasonable amount of time for someone to determine whether or not something fits and is free from defects. eBay called me yesterday to discuss the upcoming change to their policies. I politely told the CSR that 14 days is more than enough time for someone to determine if they are going to keep an item. To be honest, if I don't opt to move to 30 days, I might just go to the "no return" policy. What would be the benefit of offering 14 days if there is no financial incentive?

I would agree with that, when does that policy start?

I've been debating allowing 30-day returns, but upping my restocking fee to 20% across the board.
