Older. This label is quite old (20 years + I believe)

Sold a NWT PRL hoodie, with the collar tag and price tag both stating it's a size Large.

Buyer returned it, sent back the same brand & style PRL hoodie, but the collar tag is marked XL and the price tag is L.  I triple-checked my listing and original photos, and I definitely sold them a size L.

The item I got back may or may not be legit - usually don't see mismatched tags on PRL stuff.

What to do, to cover myself?  Going to drop them an eBay message with photos of the item they sent back, and request they send me the same one back that I sold them if they want a refund.  Should I also preemptively call someone at eBay?  Report them?

OK, not that, but I've had something returned, they had bought 2 different sizes, from 2 different sellers, then returned the wrong one to me on accident.  Could this person have bought an XL with no return policy then bought yours, it fit and couldn't return the XL, so returned the XL to you instead?  That's bizarre if so.

Update:

Y'all should block:

I did call eBay, they said to contact the buyer and wait 48 hours; if no reply, call back and they'd close the return request.  Contacted buyer on Monday, said to return the original item and I'll refund, otherwise, nope. Included pics of what they returned, so it's obvious they returned a different item.  No reply.

Called back today, and the eBay rep said the previous rep was wrong - said they have no way to close the return request since they did not see me pack & ship the item, nor did they see the buyer pack & return the different item.  They said I have until March 29th to refund the buyer...and I was like - "what, I'm still supposed to refund them?", and they said "yep!", and I replied "not gonna do it."

So we'll see what happens...

@txwoodworker that was my thought - they bought the wrong size from someone else (XL) and couldn't return it, so they bought mine (size L) and returned the XL to me...but the mismatched tags also call into question whether it's legit or not.  If the tags matched, I probably would have said "hmm, that's weird, but I can still re-sell it."  Now, not so sure.

As you probably already know, it's all in the rep you get. I'd call and try another. It took one call of less than 5 minutes for eBay to close a refund when a buyer returned an item that was not what they purchased from me.

Unless the buyer said "you sent me an XL and not a L," I don't see why eBay would think you shipped the wrong size.

@TheNeedMachine I'd second this if you haven't already refunded the buyer yet.

Nice, dude!

I'll be getting my discount back next month... I lost it due to Ebay's rule change about late shipment, which I think is completely fucked up, but it was only for February and March.

Thoughts on this one?

Pictures clearly show a button fly (text in the description says zipper fly (forgot to edit that part in the template). I've already requested photos of the damage.

IF theres a hole obviously there's nothing to argue about. In terms of the fly it's really tough. He probably has a case there even though it's contradicting. Maybe speaking with multiple reps would help your chances. If it were me and there was a hole I would just refund and let him keep it. If no hole was proven then I would probably take the return. Not sure if this helps.

I looked at the full-res pictures, and can see the issue he's talking about. It's not actually a hole in the sense that it doesn't show through, but I'm still not sure how I missed it. I'm pretty sure I could fight the return if it was just the fly issue, since the pictures are pretty clear. I've fought stuff like that before. I just refunded the buyer, but blocked him because of his attitude, and for not looking at the listing in the first place.

From his other feedback left, it doesn't seem he's in the habit of leaving negatives. Fingers crossed... I'm only out $12.50 on the purchase.
