+1!

i've learned to really enjoy looking at fakes. they often got a charm and ingenuity all their own and if they prove themselves to be legit then it is a very pleasant surprise indeed. for $5 the lesson will be etched onto your consciousness.

imo it also helps to go to nords or wherever and get a look at the genuine article and any known legit vintage specimens you can get your mitts on.

hot tip: most of the heavily branded "lux" stuff you see in thrifts will be fake.

I have a pair of Louis Vuitton Monte Carlo loafer I'm trying to list, size has rubbed off, measure 11 inches from heel to toe inside shoe. What size US would this be?

I usually wear an 8.5 and they are about 1.5 sizes too big, did I measure wrong?

no kidding? Im a 9.5 and my shoes mostly always measure 11.75 insole. But the toe matters too. I had a pair of MCs way back when they were the thing. They ran huge.

Yea I remeasured and it's about 11.5, in 12.5 out, saw a pair on eBay with an out of 12 in and was tagged LV size 9. I just put measurement and an approximate size and hoping for the best

Nah, mang... I measured about 25 pairs of shoes today representing several manufacturers on 4 continents. 11" insole typically translates to a 9-9.5.

Huh, that's interesting. I'm not trying to start anything here, but I usually use the chart from http://www.theinsolestore.com/sizing-guide  and it's proven to be helpful. For example, I'm usually a size 11.5 to 12 depending on the last and I need about 11 3/4" to be somewhat comfortable.

Just offering another resource.

Is this a non-cow animal? If not, what is it trying to be?

What do you guys say to someone when they message you asking if an item is authentic? I really
Don't like to answer that question even if I know it is. Any suggestions?

FTFY. Measuring shoes is a total waste of time.

Block them, if they are questioning the authenticity they won't be happy with the product if they buy it. You will more than likely get a return or a NAD case saying it is counterfeit.
