Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions - Page 1781

Anyone ever had listings that just disappeared? Went looking for a pair of shoes that I had listed and they're nowhere to be found. I swear this isn't the first time this has happened, either.

Thats an awesome pattern, too bad it did not work out.

I emailed Linda and requested a return explaining that the description didn't say it had holes in it.   In less than 2 min, I got a message saying they accepted the return, issued a full refund a said I didn't have to send it back.

Got me right in the feels:

"Hi ______, Our Maine friends just dropped off your beautifully packed Sulka robe - NO DUTY or TAXES at border :-)
and my husband is thrilled! It fits him like a dream. Cary Grant is mixing cocktails as I type! He loves his Sulkas and has several, but this one is a standout and already his favourite. Pen mark as you described and not visible at all on the outside, so no big deal. We wish to thank you for the sailing boats card (our house is in Nova Scotia although we also live in Montreal) so we love boats and therefore your card was the perfect choice. Also, for the wonderful surprise gift of the Sulka tie! It could go with almost any shirt and suit. You made our day! We will definitely be keeping tabs on your store and look forward to doing bizz with you again - especially anything Sulka.
Left five stars on feedback - well deserved.
Many thanks,
Cheers,
Margot & Nicholas"

If tracking shows you have the item returned AND you have the money they will automatically return the money to the buyer. Even if he give you the wrong address, etc etc. You might get ebay or paypal to pay for the org. shipping cost out of their own pocket if you press them but paypal does not let you keep the money and the item.

Thanks. I sent him a message saying I could invoice him on paypal for the new shipping label or I could refund him entirely and relist.

His reply:

Sorry. My new address is:

It's like communicating with a very bad bot. I sent him an invoice for the shipping label.

I advise to block this guy who begged me to reduce my $32 bin price so he could "afford" them. I lowered the price for him to $27.

I've sold several of these same brand new with tag pantherella cashmere socks without any complaints.

An ebay buyer just bought 2 shirts; a 17.5-33 and a 17.5-38.

What are the chances I get at least one return out of this order?

The disposition you should advise would be straight up his ass.

Yes... and no. I had a strange incident not that long ago. I will try to make it short. Listed a pair of longwings. Guy in Germany buys them and immediately pays (almost $80 with First Class International Shipping).  A little over two weeks later, tracking shows "delivered". Well, it was to a front desk of a business that didn't accept personal packages. So, the item was reportedly returned to sender. The buyer sends me a message requesting a refund since he was unaware of the company policy. My response, "No problem... As soon as the shoes are returned, I will refund your money." Over a month goes by with no shoes returned. Tracking stopped after the shoes were initially refused. He opens a non-received item case. I call eBay and they arranged a call from eBay Germany. They called at the exact minute they were scheduled to call. They closed the case in my favor in less than one minute. Now, the fun part... The shoes showed up at my house a week later. I tried to refund the money but something was wrong with the guy's PayPal address. I go through the hassle of calling eBay Germany again to do the right thing. They tersely told me to keep the money and have a nice day... At least I tried.

I also had a similar situation with a refused package on a $300 suit (to a residential address). EBay told me to keep both and the buyer had no recourse because he refused the package.

I felt bad at first but the buyer was making accusations and threats (before I got to keep both) so I was glad to keep both in the end.

I've experienced this too. $500 jacket, refused at customs, wouldn't pay for another shipment to london. They filed a chargeback and I kept the jacket and the money while paypal took the hit.

It's happened for me 3 times where I have been able to keep a returned item and the money. Twice ebay, has eaten the cost, and once the buyer never responded after a returned to sender package, and ebay opened a case and closed it immediately.

That is what gets me the most.  Its amazing how quickly people jump right to threats without even ONE try at figuring out whats going on.  Good for you.

For all of you guys complaining about lowball offers... They can actually get lower.

Anyone happen to have sold a Loro Piana castorino lined, 100% cashmere outer, gilet in recent history? Would appreciate some sales data if possible - did not see anything on comparable on ebay sold auctions or on checkaflip.com. May have a line on one, but definitely not thrift prices - trying to figure out if margin is sufficient.
