I agree Doc,

I shall now continue my hiatus from SF.

Yeah I lowballed you expecting you to come back with, "I can do "x" and meeting somewhere in the middle not getting a childish response.

You started the negotiation with a low ball offer, which will naturally set the tone of any business transaction. Do you understand that? Why you refuse to take any responsibility for that is beyond me. You are not a victim here. Please, drive around and find a home for sale or go to a car lot and offer $25,000 for a $50,000 car and let me know what kind of response you get from the seller. It doesn't matter if we're talking about $100 or $100,000. You didn't approach this in a serious manner and my response reflected that.

And then you openly admit that you used the eBay system to "fuck with me." On top of that you were dishonest about switching accounts.

I have no regrets about how I handled it. In the future try being honest, it really helps, and if you can't do that at least own up to it when you're caught. And FWIW, I would have sold the shirt for the $41.00 that I refunded you but I chose not to because I felt I was dealing with a problem buyer.

edit: see my post below.

hang on... this behavior is really ok with some folks here?

i cannot get on board with the buyer in this scenario. so if a seller expresses offense due to a lowball it's okay to "fuck with him" and start using sock accounts to continue a negotiation that the seller has already walked away from? and baldly lying to boot? ugh.

and i love that he offers to cancel the transaction on thread. what a stand up guy.

@suited and @Desi Montez I understand it is very frustrating for both of you (prob one more than another). I actually just went through something fairly similar. It took me exactly one week to recognise that it was a waste of time and very damaging mentally.

e.g. try to construct your argument, wait for the opponent to response and then repeat it.

As someone advised above, let's just forget it and move on - best to block the other guy so you don't have to read their comment again.

What's the deal with shipping to non e delcon countries? What's to stop the buyer from claiming the item never showed?

That is the real pain in the ass question. There is nothing to stop him if tracking doesn't show "delivered".

But you did originally lie about the user name thing, right? Doesn't sound like either of you handled the situation very well.

ship express through paypal.

Sure the buyer won't want to pay for that. They want a "cheaper" way of shipping to Japan. It's only a tie so maybe I'll risk it.

looking for advice:

I shipped a little package priority usps international to my buddy in japan two months ago. last the tracking updated says it left Los angeles. I can't get any info from usps, haven't found a way to get past robots on the phone, and have never delt with a truly lost package before.

Any tips?

Call, and either press 0 over and over again, or say "agent" over and over again. That'll get you past the robots.

For what it is worth, I have shipped MANY ties to Japan via USPS First Class International and have never had the slightest problem. Japanese buyers are awesome!

I've called my local post office (not the 1-800 number), and had that person track down the package for me.
