That's not a bad strategy on the selling side. It's all situational I assume... How long has the item been up? How much traffic? How many watchers? Etc.

I'm in a similar situation as a buyer. I've been getting notified of something every month like clockwork, but the price never changes. Haven't sent a message yet, but I should. The problem is that only half is useful to me and the rest is essentially scrap, so I don't want to pay more than half his price, and even that's a little steep.

I always ignore "buyers" who ask what my best price is. My best price is the BIN price. If you want a lower price, state your price. If it's a lowball, I will ignore you. If it's reasonable, I will counter or accept. I accepted an offer the other day at $270 on a listing with a price of $310 because the buyer made  a reasonable offer and I wanted to rid my storage of the item. The buyer appreciated my willingness to deal, and I appreciated his actual offer.

Too much of Ebay is people seeking gemstones for the price of peanuts. I'm a shop, not a charity.

Lol true it's not a negotiation until an amount has been declared, but if an item has zero offers and it isn't a great deal most buyers on eBay will more than likely never use BIN if OBO is availabile. If your not willing to list your price your probably leaving money on the table.

I recently bought a shirt after the seller finally gave me a great deal on the 3rd offer and after he got my shipping address and noticed it was to my law firm he called me a cheap skate! A dollar saved is a dollar earned and I'm as cheap as they get...

I'm not willing to lower my price without an offer. I'm perfectly willing to negotiate.

Close. That ones seems to be more popular/common then the one I have (not sure if that's good or bad). Pretty cool shirt though, if your into that sort of thing
