Man, if he had just said, "The suit felt tight and the measurement was off an inch. Here is a photo for proof. Would you do a partial refund of $15 to cover tailoring costs?" he would have been fine. Issue the refund and move on. The fact that he mentioned (threatened) neg feedback is grounds enough to fight this one. But with such a small amount of money, what's worth more: money or the principle of it? That's up to you.

I'll play the devil's advocate and say that he could mean that he won't leave negative feedback and therefore you wouldn't know there was an issue with the suit (from his perspective). I don't think that's exactly what he meant, but it is mildly difficult to tell without knowing.

If you were speaking in person, it would be fairly easy to tell the differences between "I would hate to see your perfect record blemished [wink wink]." vs. "I thought you should know that I had a bit of an issue..."

Anyway, if I were in your situation, I'd probably give him the small refund he's asking. Not because he deserves it or that I want him to continue buying from me. The reason I'd do it is because it's a small amount and as soon as I clicked the button in PayPal, I'd block him and move on, not thinking much more about it. If I were to fight it, it would be on the back of mind for the next few days as I dreaded receiving messages. I just don't want/need the added stress for something small. Maybe that's exactly what he wants, I'm not sure.

As evidence of the previous page, how does one avoid measurement issues in general? Is that why some of you post pictures of the actual measuring tape up against the garment on ebay? With shoulders especially, it seems easy to just measure from a different part of the seams and get a different result, or spead the jacket a bit more to get a different measurement. I've always just measured from seam to seam at the widest point of the shoulders, laid flat with no tugging or stretching.

(in no way am I saying dreamspace did this): It seems like buyers ALWAYS have an out by just saying "the sellers measurements were off"

Sold a suit 25 days ago, got this today (suit had to be shipped to UK, but he's had for 2 weeks) what should I do? I think I'm good to get neg removed for extortion, right?

Additional information:
"Hi First of all I received the suit and pleased with general service however one problem regarding the sizing. I received the suit a couple weeks ago but have unfortunately been without internet connection due to remote area I live, now reconnected to the internet so can finally contact you. Needed this suit for a special wedding however disappointed that the chest size is not the actual measurement stated. Purposefully selected the suit as I specifically needed a 21" chest measurement, however the suit felt very tight around side of chect and armpits and when measured myself it is actually 20" and this has made such a difference. (can supply photo if you wish for proof) Dissapointed as with shipping costs it has turned out an ill fitting suit that I can not afford to post back. Thought I would mention as don't wish to leave negative feedback and hoping you could come to some kind of agreement such as partial refund perhaps? Thank you for your time Christian"
The buyer requested:
A partial refund of US $15.00.
Sounds easy to me. If he were to return it as not as described, you would be out more than $15. This is an easy out.

I don't feel like he was really threatening the neg feedback, but you should probably report it anyway. In a case where he does leave neg feedback, it may be removed because of the message. He won't be notified that you reported it.

Here is what feedback extortion looks like. This is happening to me right now.

Background.....
Lady ordered a coat size 38 (tagged and measured) for her husband on Sunday night. Requested overnight delivery so her husband could wear it on Tuesday. Paid full price BIN $200+ and extra for express shipping. Package arrived on time, got a message on Tuesday night (late) that she needed to return it since it doesn't fit. This was tuesday night, after he was needing to have worn it. I'm on to you lady! I don't rent clothes for free. I tell her how to start the return via the managed returns process. She chose "wrong size, does not fit" which applies the 10% restocking fee.

Then, she says "can you waive the fee since I didn't know about it."
I say, "the fee is given in 3 locations on every listing." Once at the top, in the terms and conditions, and in the FAQs"

Now she says, "Well, I didn't see it. Anyway, it's not a 38"
I say, "The tag says 38 and the measurements verify this as well"

She says, "Well it doesn't fit my husband and I never saw the restocking fee, so please waive it"
I say, :"measurements were given and fee was clearly shown in multiple places. Fee stands"

She says "The listing says this is cotton, but it is cotton and polyester"
I say " The listing specifics clearly state 'cotton blend'"

She says "the listing specifics are much smaller print than the rest of your listing. Ebay would be interested to know about your fine print"
I say "I have no control of the font size ebay chooses to use for their listing specifics section"

She says "Hey did you just change your return policy? It looks different than when I saw it the other night"
I say, "I have not updated my return policy in nearly 2 years. I thought you said you never saw the return policy"

She says" I don't want to debate the issue further : restocking fee not obvious, not 38R, not cotton
If you cannot waive the restocking fee then I will simply complain to ebay and leave negative feedback to this effect"

GOTCHA

Any ever ship to south africa successfully?  I've shipped out a sony camcorder back on Feb 27th, and only option was First Class.  Buyer informed me he has yet to receive anything.

Shipping shows "in transit".  Are we able to call a international USPS # to find out details on a specific shipping item given the confirmation #?

Thanks.

Hey guys, whats a general shipping quote to ship a shirt to australia? I don't trust the canada post, as they tend to fluctuate.

Anyone have experience here? (i'm canadian)

13"x8"x3" @ 8 oz was my last shirt shipment.

i've actually had awesome luck with canada post. no brainer using paypal to print shipping labels (AND you get a discount off the cp rack rate). My work is right behind the post office, so I just print it off there when I get in, slap it on and drop it off.

Nice thanks, I have one around the corner as well. Can I ask how much the shipping cost?

Tracked Packet for a shirt (33cmx38cmx5cm @ 350g) is ~$55 to Australia, or if the other party is someone you trust, you can send Small Packet Air (no tracking) for ~$23.

I love when this happens: had an item listed for two 10 day auction cycles and it never sold. Decided not to relist it as an auction last night and instead moved it to BIN/OBO. Just accepted an offer for double previous opening bid

Just a heads up. Got an email from eBay today about the GSP program. If you are using it, eBay is going to start overriding your country exclusion list starting April 17 unless you click the link in the email you just received by April 11. I don't want this to happen, because I also offer non-GSP options all items that I offer GSP on. so eBay would screw me if they did this. Because of that, I clicked the link in the email. If you only offer GSP on international items, then it probably makes sense to let them do their thing.
