I've had trouble with "buyers" from the Ukraine, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria (and a couple others). I blocked them for a long time and just recently opened them back up to my auctions. I don't know if that was a mistake or not. I feel your pain.

Revising titles was great advice! I can't believe I'd never thought of it before. I did it and had a huge jump in views and watchers and finally saw a bid on something I'd relisted 3 times.

Buyer is claiming its a fake because he can't find it on the Upper Deck online database, which doesn't cover older memorabilia like this (back when Griffey was with the Mariners). Explained this to him, and he immediately opened a SNAD case claiming its a fake. What's the best course of action? Contact Upper Deck, get some kind of verification at least regarding their policy on older item verification, or suck it up and accept the return?

Odd, I once unknowingly purchased a fake item and, once I received, realized and opened a case, ebay put the burden on me to establish the purported authenticity of the item. Wound up having to track down the manufacturer's general counsel, send the item to her, and then (luckily she was very helpful) obtain an affidavit as to the fact that the item was counterfeit. Only then did eBay/PayPal help me.

Weird question.  I have two ties that I want to sell that look like this.

700

700

The Chanel has the logo all over it, I have high hopes for it.  Gucci ties are so hit or miss I might just keep it. But, since they are both key themed, would it be worth it to try to sell them together?  Too gimmicky?  What's your take?

Where was it and what did you change it to?

Nice! I'm going to experiment with it more and I check completed listings of the same/similar items to see how many views they received. It's not completely accurate as someone could advertise their listing, but it gives me an idea of what I can expect.

If it were me, I'd list them separately. I do see your point in the motifs, but you'd be reaching a niche market by selling them together. You also run the risk of selling yourself short if, in fact, the Gucci gets more than you expect (if you were to list them separately).

If you're worried about practically giving the Gucci tie away, list it first with a minimum bid with which you're comfortable. If it sells, list the Chanel, which is almost a guaranteed decent sale. If it doesn't sell, decide if you'd rather keep it or try to package them.

Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230919481778?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

I went from HUGO BOSS Khaki Blazer 38 R to HUGO BOSS Cotton Spring Sport Coat 38 R.

I went from 7 views and no watchers to 38 views and 3 watchers - and 1 bid - within 12 hours of changing. This, as I mentioned, after listing it 3 times.

Sometimes I don't put certain keywords in my title. In the former title I opted to not include Cotton since I had put that in the description field. I'm not sure what the critical difference was in this case.

My guess is sport coat...... IfI was looking for a blazer I think "blue with brass buttons"?? Why wouldnt you max out the title with all the words possible, you still have 40 characters left, something like

HUGO BOSS Khaki Cotton Spring Patch Pocket Mens Sport Coat Blazer Jacket 38 R.

Thanks - good thought. Do you recommend that for browsers or for keyword searches? I was under the impression that the ebay search engine pulls from several areas equally - like title, description and body. I was thinking more about keyword searchers. I figure that for browsers, the picture is the thing.

No clue, but i have to assume the title of your listing gets the most "points" when it is searched, plus if they use blazer or sport coat you're covered. I always max out the words in my title, cant hurt anything.

That's something I miss sometimes. I will write a title and realize that I have 20+ characters left and have to think about something else to write. I try to think about things that people would search but that are still applicable to my listing.

I'd love to have your input on them, but I sell 95% of my things to German speakers. In the listing, I give descriptions in both German and English but I focus more on the German speakers. By any chance, do you happen to speak German? smile.gif
