Facebook. Does anyone use it to showcase their items? If so, is there a decent, free app that will synch with my eBay items and list them on Facebook n a pleasing manner? I tried one and it was pretty ugly / cheesy, and their basic free version won't cut it if I have a bunch of items.
I do, but I do it all manually. Feel free to check it out in my sig.

Nice I think I'll try that the next go around. Any idea how to automate the actual listing creation?

I think that's what the dudes here use GarageSale for...I personally re-use basic HTML templates for the listing body, but still have to list them manually. You can cut down the manual listing time a bit by using "sell similar" to list additional similar items with the some of the same basic settings (start time, start bid, shipping costs, category etc), then edit the description (or paste in your HTML template), brand name, size etc. I think either way you're still going to do some typing and there is no way to totally automate a listing creation for clothing etc.

This is what I do too. No Windows program/service can do what I want, sadly.

I feared as much. I have the same routine as you ATLnoob. HTML template and sell similar has helped somewhat

Thank you - eyeballing it now. I may end up going that route - manually adding / linking. Was hoping either eBay or FB had an app that talked to the other, but doesn't seem like it (aside from being able to link/post from eBay to FB, but that screws up the photos it seems). I'll play with it - thanks!

I use to do that...its SOOO much better now with GarageSale...All I have to input into my GS templates are the details, measurements, pictures, features I write (which are minimal really).
I have templates set up for different items of course and different durations (auctions, BIN, BIN/OBO) I just duplicate the template I have, and plug in what I need. Pictures are drag and drop, which makes it super easy.

Just to continue my small attempt to rebalance the negative tide against buyers on ebay here by sellers... what is with sellers who point blalnk refuse to sell to buyers outside their home countries? Mostly, I have to say, Americans, and one or two, I've noticed, forum members. I know Americans are notoriously suspicious of the outside world and 50% don't have a passport etc. but I would have though that forum members in particular would be a little more sophisticated and cosmopolitan than that... But more seriously, it is really damn annoying when you see something you really, really like and are prepared to pay even via the ridiculous scamtastic Global Shipping Program, and then, you see 'I don't ship outside the US. Never. For Anyone. Don't Even Ask' (or words to that effect)... grrr.

I send probably 1/3 packages internationally but am strict with express mail only unless it's to Canada. My main issue with international buyers (especially here) who say I'll take xx item for xx price (usually 20-50% off asking price). I usually say can't do that price is firm / ok slight discount. Buyer either refuses or says ok then pays and then is international. Why do you have to hide this? Also hate the buyers who say mark $20 send first class is ok. Then ***** as me when I say I'm not marking a $500 shoe $20 and sending it uninsured to them. Standard shipping outside of bigger international stores is always in $40-$55 range, can't figure out why international buyers expect / demand less

I may be going out on a limb here, but if the tie is a vintage Hermes then I think that it is a good idea to put both of those words in the description.

How can this be a serious question?

When searching on eBay I filter out anything with "vintage" in the title as most people who post stuff as "vintage" are really just trying to sell something old and ****** for 10x what it's worth. Same with "RARE" listings.

RARE

Aint nothing wrong with rare, there's only a couple more on the bay right now so.... rare.

BUT, I don't think I would put vintage on that tie, since it's not what I would consider a vintage pattern and I think it may scare people off that are just looking for a Hermes tie.

E Delcon to Canada First Class : - - What is the weight requirement for shipping this way? I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

4 pounds sound correct? That is stuck in my head for some reason.

Looks like it is 4 lbs...from messing around on the USPS website, when I enter anything over 4 lbs to Canada, the First Class Option disappears...

The folks with a totally legit beef to me are the Canadians. Does it really cost $5.70 to get a package to seattle and $20 to get it to Vancouver? or $10 to get a pair of boots to Fargo, ND and $50 to get them to Regina? or Buffalo vs Toronto? Plus, I've spent so much time in Canada and the postal service is very reliable. Probably more so than USA. Having lived in Italy, where my mail service was dependent on the size of bribe gift you gave your postman and having anything in a box opened, no, I don't ship to Italy. Of course this was early 80's. I had bought some very detailed mini-train cars that I shipped to a friend in that hobby. Box made it. Trains didn't.

As a Canadian buyer who's dropped $xx,000 on eBay purchases in the last year or so, let me say that you're absolutely right. Being charged $35 to have a tie shipped from Staten Island to Toronto actually formed my routine as a seller. Unless we're talking about the rare 20-pound Eskimo carving that I'll sell, everything that I list includes free shipping in "the continent of North America." I can ship shoes to California for $25; it's $17 to Edmonton. As a seller, I'm happy to eat the $8.

Since Canada Post prints the actual postage on the customs slip, I'd be embarrassed as a seller to charge international/overseas shipping rates to US buyers and then have the item arrive with a sticker boasting just how much they'd been gouged. The famous example that I've used before is the New York seller who charged me $35 to ship a Charvet shirt, then stuffed it unpackaged into an envelope and pasted on a couple of stamps.

I won't even go into the GSP, which this week was going to charge me $20 to have a $25 t-shirt shipped from Philadelphia to Toronto. And that's in addition to the $16 international shipping rate that the seller was going to charge to ship the shirt to the eBay hub.
