The Burberrys' label is old, I think from the late 80s, so while it still could possibly be NWOT, it defs isnt recent.

I realize that sounded somewhat facetious, but my point was that generally (unless it's something big ticket or you have a lot of product and market knowledge) you wouldn't want to buy something for more than a third of what you think you can sell it for.

^that's a reasonable answer. Plus you have no idea what condition it's really in, with those crappy pics, so you may never be able to unload it. Without a reasonable expectation of a big return, I wouldn't have gambled that much on it. I bought a coat that had a chance of being a bomber shearling for <$60, it came in, wasn't shearling, was pretty much not even worth trying to sell, went in the donate pile. Rolled the dice, lost.

What do y'all do when:
You buy a NWT item at, say, Marshalls, for ~ 1/7th original price and you're sure it'll sell for more than paid, so you list (and relist) it a few times and no one has any interest in it whatsoever...and it's too late to return, and doesn't fit you (nor anyone you know so can't gift it)?
Sell at a loss, assuming anyone will even want it then?
Donate to GW? ...And if so - can I claim the price I paid for tax purposes, or only the price my local GW charges since they are flat-rate, though they might tag it as special price?
I have no problem redonating thrifted items, but I've gotten stuck with a few NWT items from discount stores that are past return date...and not my size...just seems like a waste of $ on my part.

Just curious, what is this item you cant sell? What are the numbers you are talking about?

Is a club shirt a casual or dress shirt? Do you list it under both categories? I have an Eton french cuff shirt that is not something that you would wear to the office, but it's not a casual shirt. It's black with a mylar thread running through it.

Alt, you can write off what you paid for the shirt, but why not just try to make what you can off it. It sucked last week when I had a ton of stuff go for $9.99, but I'm glad it's gone.

NWT originally about $100, been listed for $19.99 no reserve and no interest. Not a LuxeSwap brand/item really.

This one is a shirt, tho I've got 2 or 3 same boat items. Not gonna lose much if I donate - just hate to lose anything...though in the grand scheme I'm still way ahead on 99% of the rest. I'm not in crisis mode or anything - just wondering what other folks do.

Totally would have, but was over-confident. Lesson learned, and wasn't an expensive one. I've made a couple way more expensive mistakes - worst was refunding the wrong buyer on a return (who of course kept it) and had to refund the right buyer as well. That sucked.
