i saw your desired trousers, they are great, and will work well with reasonably darker or lighter gray jacket. If the shade of your blazer is close to that blue tone, your whole outfit will look odd or boring (sort of washed out colour-wise). White, light blue, indigo or navy shirt will compliment this pair combo, if you want to go safe way

I like the statement about socks, have bought some funny ones, but didnt get the chance to wear them yet - go "sockless" these days.

And, the next rule about "the interest" - it is, as well, mine too - it's how i dress or make my outfit for a day.

Here's some of my rules. Reading back at some of yours, this could be controversial!

  • I never wear shoes with a suit.
  • I never wear trainers with jeans.
  • I never wear a tie/bow tie with smart trousers.
  • I never wear 'Double Cuffs' EVER (which means I don't own a single pair of cuff links)
  • I never wear black or navy socks.

I think I'll stop there for now before I'm kicked out the forum... I thinks it's fun to mix stuff up a bit and clash your tailored with some casual elements in a way that works - it seems work for me anyway...

Well of course I don't go barefoot, Footwear is involved - just not shoes.

oh of course not, sorry... I wear either soft leather footwear with a suit such as Driving shoes, espadrilles or even trainers such as Jack Purcells...I save my Trickers and my Grenson's for my 'Raw Selvage Denim'.

^driving shoes are still "shoes". in any case, i consider your "rule" an abomination, but you already knew that biggrin.gif

'Style' is not a 'one size fit's all', what works for one doesn't always work for another. I like to push the boundarie's a bit... nothing ground breaking, just like to give everything a bit of twist!

I don't have any rules that I abide to, style wise. That feels pretty goddamn good. I'm not crazy about 6x1 DB's, cargo pants, leather jackets, suit + sneakers etc etc, but that doesn't mean I'll never try it, or change my mind if I see someone pull it off with splendor.

To some degree I agree, but if you're showing up to job interviews and other suit-required situations wearing sneakers or drivers, it's just inappropriate IMHO.
