Well, Foo, I never said that you don't have reasons for what you do. I have made the point that you do in this very thread. It just that some of them are very obviously wrong since they have resulted in a sort of sartorial reductio ad absurdum. Manton and Vox, however, are laying the basis for real artistic expression.

Second, when Manton "startles" you with something, he will be the first to tell you he f*cked up.

On the contrary. You apparently haven't been following some of his threads as closely as you think. When I say "startle" I don't mean the what-the-hell-is-that kind. Rather, I mean the how-did-he-do-that variety. I often look at some of Manton's pics thinking, "When I dress that way, it's OK but a bit staid. When he dresses that way, it hums like a tuning fork. What exactly has he done here that I'm not doing?"

Virtually everything posted here by anybody falls into a relatively narrow band: what we look like when we put the most into it. Within that scope, I don't see myself dressing in a fashion any more singular than anybody else--certainly not those I care to be compared to.

That you don't see it is part of the essential tragedy.

Blah blah blah. I'm not getting sucked into this BS vortex. If anything you say has any merit or teeth, apply it to something concrete.

Manton, save us. Use your powers for good.

I thought about modding this, but it is not my thread and I will only delete obvious stuff in someone else's thread. This may seem rancorous, but it is a real discussion and kind of on-topic.

The discussion is a side track and I hope it is over but I am not going to delete because it's at least on topic. I don't see where it can go next, though, without the kind of photo critique that we are doing elsewhere.

Of course it's on topic. Moreover, while I am not a big fan of Spoo it was prompted by Foo taking a shot at him.

Nor do I think it is particularly rancorous. I think I have made my respect for Foo pretty plain even though I strongly disagree with him.

But certainly, if Manton wants any criticism of Foo's opinions to be off-limits in this thread, I'm happy to stop.

Let's get back on track. I get cuffs on all my patterned trousers (this may be an actual rule)....

What is your point Bounder? I'm still trying to find it....

I only have one pair of pleated pants I wear, and they have cuffs, but they are also PoW. Some flat fronts cuffed, others not.

all my flat front pants are are uncuffed, and i dont even know why. i think foo has said he does not believe in this rule.

what are the general rules about cuffing. is it also dependent on pattern of pants, build of wearer, material....?
