Rather than just ***** about MC content I thought I might create some. Let's see if anyone joins.

What are "your" rules? Things you always do that are not cannonical rules but that you rarely stray from?

Two examples of my own:

1) I very rarely wear french cuffs any more. But I always wear them with DB and 3-piece. However, if the DB or 3-piece is solid gray flannel, back to button cuff.

2) As noted in another thread, I pretty much only wear knit or repp ties with odd jacekts. The occasional linen or wool but businessy printed or woven silk, never.

Go.

I always wear a white shirt with a suit or sometimes a white collar and cuff shirt but always a white collar. Never wear a suit with a center vent.

1. I wear french cuff shirts to court. Button cuff in the office.
2. If I'm wearing a belt instead of suspenders: when I wear black or cordovan shoes and belt I put my belt in starting on the left. With brown or tan shoes and belt I put my belt in starting on the right. If I'm wearing sneakers or hiking boots I put my belt in starting on the left. I don't even think about doing this, I just do it. I have no idea why.

I categorically refuse to wear Flipflop or Croc or Wellington. Not even if my life depends on it.

I never wear a solid white dress shirt with a sport coat.
I never wear loafers with socks anymore
And for some reason i always wear my french cuff shirts with cufflinks.
I never wear anything fun with a black tie rig.
A reasonable rate of return

I never wear anything fun with a black tie rig.

I co-sign both of these. Well, one caveal, I will wear a white BD with a blazer for a dinner out.

The one about FC shirts I don't understand.

I only wear white shirts with suits. I used to exclusively wear French cuffs, but recently switched over to barrels. French became too fuddy duddy looking to me everyday. Also, I hate cufflinks, they come across as gimmicky to me, when I do wear the French cuffs I just use a simple mother of pearl link.

I also will only wear a darker suit if I am going out after work, or going out at night. The mid grey stuff only for during the day.

Only wear black shoes with oxford lacing with my suits.

I never wear "fun" socks that clash.

Only wear 1 button or 3 button jackets.

I don't wear striped ties with suits. I prefer solids in different textures, or madder/maccesfield print ties.

Never wear loafers with anything. Just feel that there is always a better looking option.

A white BD with a blazer makes perfect sense to me, though it's not something I do very often.

This may be South-specific (or obvious), but I never wear a white shirt with a cotton khaki suit I own, and I never wear a colored shirt, or any shirt with french cuffs, with a seersucker suit. Also, with seersucker, I always wear a button collar.

I refuse to wear silk knots. I would walk around constantly adjusting my shirt cuffs rather than wear silk knots.

I coordinate my leathers (watch strap, waist strap (if wearing looped pants)), shoes. My braces, however almost never coordinate, for who will see them?

most people here probably match their belts/shoes. I probably have 10 belts, maybe more, I don't really know though as I pretty much only wear 2-3 of them, a dark suede one and 2 different brown calf ones. It does not matter what shoes I am wearing.

How about the watch? Do you wear metal watches or leather-strapped ones?

1) No french cuffs with odd jackets.

2) No capes with office pants.

3) Odd jacket and no tie always requires a button down collar.

4) No black shoes with khaki pants.

Some of these, especially the cape one, may be too restrictive so feel free to suggest amendments.
