Leather bound journal

I'm looking for a relatively plain, high quality leather bound journal, roughly 4" x 6" to 6" x 8" in size. Magnoli has something that I like, but it's rather expensive for what they actually offer: I found another that I like by Allison LeBaron, and the prices are distinctly better. The paper is all handmade and hand torn, though, which isn't particularly useful for actual writing. I might as well email and ask about normal, thinner paper, but in the meantime, any other suggestions for this sort of thing?

Have you seen this?

Interesting. Not entirely sure how I feel about that. Might be more refined, if I can use the word, than what I'm looking for, and a bit more expensive, too. And, yeah, moleskine's not bad, but not quite the same thing, either.

I forget the name but there was a fine press that made vellum-bound journals that were incredibly expensive.

vellum?
wow. that's really great but i don't think i'd make that investment just yet.
i'd really like to see this though. the cost must be exorbitant. i can't imagine writing on something that expensive.

Laptop. Save cowhide for shoes and paper for forests. One day you'll regret not having your writing in electronic form.

I've tried several other journals, but keep coming back to Moleskine.

Some of the best I've used are through Crane paper.
They apparently get "theirs" through Kate's Paperie in NYC
They have good quality leatherbound journals. I've worked in these things since 1983, I cram them full of stuff and they don't fall apart. Plan on about $75 dollars, if I remember correctly.

Alas, I don't believe the entire journal was vellum. I saw it at a private-press exhibit near Stanford.

Smythson stationaries are wonderful. I would highly recommend them.

what's the point if the pages aren't vellum? that's all it's really good for anyway, right? btw, i've been using a huge ass txt file for a while and it's just not the same. no gravity to it.
