Just curious: what kind of break do you guys prefer with your pants? That is, full, half, none? I'm trying to figure out what works best for me with J. Crew pants in general, and with their dress chinos in particular. I'm finding that the full break that I had been going with is looking a little fuddy duddy. Half break seems a little sleeker and more modern.

Half. No break looks a little silly. You might even want to try one-quarter break, if that's your thing.

I am thinking about picking up the 484 sun faded chino in deep harbor and chester brown, but then I saw that dockers is having a 20% off on order 100 and over. Thus, I am at a cross road between spending $121 for j.crew or $90 for dockers. I've never owned a pair of J.crew chino before, so I am wondering about how their quality is compared to the alpha dockers line. I love the alpha chino, but am willing to spent a little bit more for j.crew if it is that much better. Can anyone give me an insight on this subject matter?

I'd say they're comparable in quality so I'd steer you towards the dockers

I have a pair of the J Crew urban slim fit chinos and I'd say they are miles better than any of my three pairs of Alphas. The fabric is much more substantial and and the linings are much more polished.
Is the 484 the same? I could purchase a pair of royal blue from my local j.crew at 39.99. What do you say about the deep harbor and chester brown chinos? Do they look super bright and tacky? Can they both go with a lot?

I have a pair of alpha dockers in cobble stone. It's my first decent chinos and I loved it. Would pull trigger, if the colors on the J.Crew sunfaded was so snazzy. Do you know what the british khakis and the midnight looks like?

I bought the W&B camo sweater a while back and stated I would post up pics when I wear it. I wore it for the first time today:

wearing mine for the first time today!

Does anyone know if any of the many coming promotions work with collabs or suiting?

tried using my student discount instore on a collab item but no luck. they are getting pretty stringent dammit.

I like the back of the hem to be just above the sole of my boot/shoe. This typically translates to a "half break". No break (in my opinion) only looks good in "staged" photographs. In real life, when walking around and not being OCD about fixing your pants, it looks too high and does not usually fall right. When you get to a "full break" or "stacking" you run the line of looking like your pants are actually too long.

The rise on the 484 is much smaller rise and tighter thighs than the urban slims.

Not positive, but to me it looks like a belted Mackintosh.

is this the burnt copper color?

can't figure out what color this pant is....I asked on the website chat today too...they said it was the Caramel color.

actually, just yesterday they had this picture for the chester brown color, but now they changed it to a picture of just the pants---it's hard to tell if it's the same now :-/

also if I can get one denim or chambray shirt--which should it be? this $138 selvedge denim shirt?

or the dark chambray or the light colored chambray?

which would go best with a tie (and sometimes bowtie?)

looking forward to the black friday sale - planning on ordering a shirt that hasn't debuted yet according to the online chat but was at the store I went to today). also theres a nicer cardigan that I saw today that has pockets i believe in the chest as well. And the 484 sun-faded pants in the university purple color <3

I can't believe i just scored this shirt new with tags in my size (M) on ebay for $27 plus shipping.. I was really disappointed when I discovered the shirt when my size was already sold out. I was cooing at it to my wife when I noticed it for the first time online.

Is it hideous, or something? No one else bid on it...! Seeing as how I would have paid the $70 retail price if my size were available--I know I would have at least bid $80 to win it at "all costs".

I also got this one from the same seller for $27 and he's gonna combine shipping.
