J.Crew Fall/Winter 2012 - Page 32

is there a difference between the catalog and the website as far as inventory goes? There's a colorway of a Wallace & Barnes sweater I really like (as per the latest catalog I received today), but it's not listed online. Might stop by a store tomorrow and ask, but I was thinking maybe someone here knows the answer

Eh, I'd say it's safe to go down a half size on the Chippewa boots, depending on how you want them to fit.  If you like them tight, yet not uncomfortable, go down a half size.  If you like a little room, TTS.

Online and catalog have the same inventory.  Your best bet is to call to see if they can locate it in a store for you.  Good luck!

I'm a newbie and currently don't own a sportcoat.  What are you guys thoughts on that one?  Do you think it would be more wise to find a navy color sportcoat for versatility?
If this helps any -- I'm 26 and go out almost nightly in Italy (dinners, nightclubs, upscale cafes/bars, etc.). Thanks for any input!

I own a pair of the LL Bean Chippewa's that are pretty much identical to the cap-toe boot at J. Crew. I sized down half a size from my sneaker. I wear an 11 Nike, 10.5 Sperry, 11 Desert Boot (I SHOULD be wearing a 10.5 though). Got a 10.5 in the Chippewa. Fits perfect.

so is it safe to say that chippewa size is equivalent to desert boot size?

And today, since I have virtually no dress shirts to go with the new suit, three Ludlow shirts: light blue, light purple, and the beacon red overplaid--with the 25% sales discount, almost like getting one shirt free.
The suit hasn't arrived yet, but based on my experience with my navy Ludlow blazer, I am expecting the fit to be spot on.
And if you haven't tried on the Ludlow dress shirts yet, do so. I think, for the price, they are a great dress shirt. I wear a Medium in J. Crew casual shrits, oxfords, etc., but had to up to a Large in these. They run a bit smaller, and you're going to need to button the top button. Plus the sleeves on the Medium were a bit short for a suit.
Big spending for me, but basically for around $700, I pulled together a nice new suit and 3 shirts to go with it.

Sounds awesome! Congrats and please post pix!

Cannot go wrong with that one, TJ. Very versatile. I have the brown herrinbone in the Donegal wool and it's a favorite.

Are those Preston Bluchers any good? How would you compare them to other similarly priced shoes like Cole Haan and J&M?

Also, do they fit TTS?

TIA.

Navy would probably be better but it is winter time now. Ideally though if you are wearing a jacket every night, you should have at least 3-4 so you don't wear them out too quickly

I'm thinking of grabbing a Ludlow blazer but won't have a chance to try one on before the sale ends. Was wondering what size you guys might recommend. I'm 5'10'' 135lb & have about a 38'' chest. I was thinking of trying a 38, but typically take a XS in all J. Crew stuff.

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up, maybe I'll give the 38R or 38S a shot with the free returns. Still wondering if a 36 would be a better fit.

looking at getting the LUDLOW SPORTCOAT IN STRIPE JAPANESE COTTON TWILL.

Anyone here purchased one or seen one in person.
How is the cotton quality?
I ask this because i noticed the following on the jcrew site......

look just where the armpit begins. Notice what looks like a tear....??
