I've gone down to 117 lbs...

...and I desperately need to gain some weight. Problem is my schedule doesn't permit me to have any free time for gym. Any diet I should follow? My Asian metabolism's extremely fast, no matter how much I eat my weight keeps going down I'm 5ft7 if that helps.

Try eating a pound of bacon every day for breakfast. Thats what gives me my atlas-like physique.

Are you eating regular meals, at the same time each day? How many?

As someone who likes to snack, I could recommend all sorts of high-calorie treats, but that just seems like a recipe for an eating disorder.

Your BMI is 18.3, that is classified as "underweight". You need to focus on putting on pounds. Drink more beer.

Eat meat every chance you get. Eliminate the word vegetable from your vocabulary. Oh yeah, drink more beer. Heineken and Guiness do it for me.

oh, and do some burpees. 10 mins at home, no equipment necessary. Try the prison workout. Hell of a total body thing. At 55 odd kilo with some extra protein in the diet, that ought to put on some muscle pretty fast.

you need to measure how many calories you are actually eating. for some people 'a lot' just seems like a lot. go ahead and count the calories and then add on top of it, if they come to 2000 and you're losing weight then bump it up to 2500-3000.


i think a good plan would to add 2-3 snacks to your daily routine. and make that snack something substantial like a bagel with peanut butter, small sandwich etc.

i'm going to assume that you're somewhat active if you're eating 'so much' and still losing weight. so i won't sug. excercises.

Guys, stop giving him terrible advice. Start eating. Eat a lot more protein, but make sure you eat a lot of complex carbohydrates as well. If you consume nothing but protein, you'll actually start losing weight and have some more problems. Try and get down 2500-2800 calories daily, and if you want to start seriously training, make sure you're getting (1.5 x your bodyweight in lbs)g of protein daily and a lot of complex carbohydrates.

just take a couple protein shakes with 2% milk every day. Easy way to get your calorie and protein intake up. I've always been skinny and I gained 11lbs in 3 weeks when I was working out and eating a work-out type diet.

Yeah, I used to say the same thing (that my metabolism was just too fast) when I was at 125 pounds (at 6'1"!). In my case, even 3000 calories/day is too little to gain any serious weight--at my current 165 pounds or so, 3000 calories/day is actually verging on weight loss territory if I do any serious cardio at all--but you can eat a lot more than you think. I'm in a gaining phase right now, and I'm eating about 4000 calories a day at the moment.

Metkirk, trust me when I say that you CAN outeat your metabolism, you just have to realize that it might require a lot more food than just an occasional second helping or so. If you're like me, you'll have to literally double the amount you've been eating.

I probably wouldnt try it in the shower room in maximum security, but otherwise, yeah it is safe and works very well.

I would say that in terms of a time spent to effectiveness tradeoff, it is the best workout I have ever found. In 10 or 15 mins, you hit a bunch of major muscles, you keep moving, so it gets the heart rate up too.

Is it as effective as an hour in a gym? No.

Does it give you a hell of a conditioning and cardio blast for just 15 mins of effort - absolutely.
