Actually, I beg to differ. I've had to call several times with no help at all from the customer service. Still waiting on an email I sent them in Oct.

The label in black just signifies that it's a regular fit shirt. The silver labels reflect the slim fit shirts. I have 5-6 of their patterned shirts that I wear as "sport shirts" to work all week. I have no need to wear suits or jacket and tie to work. Leave it up to imagination, you can wear just about any of their shirts with jeans or chinos.

Hi there -

We do have 17 slim in the works, but no 17.5's at this time. However, I'm happy to pass along your request to our production team.

In response to your question about the labels, we use black labels on regular fit shirts and light gray labels on slim fit shirts. We do have many casual styles that may fit the sporty look you're interested in. Particularly, our Seasonal Collection and current Short Run Collection are great options for cool-weather sport.

Best,

Mel

Ledbury, I have two of your shirts and am about to receive three more.  The slims fit me very well but not perfectly.  The only change that I feel the need to make is around the stomach.  I need to lose some fabric here, but just a touch.  Should I do darts or taper the sides?  I really do not completely understand the difference. Can you explain and give me a suggestion of which route to take. Thanks

I'm a huge fan of darts for a few reasons. For starters, they do a better job of reducing fullness/blousing in the back than simply taking-in the sides from my experience. This is especially true if you have an athletic build, i.e. broad shoulders and chest, small waist. Consider the three dimensional aspect of the human torso: when viewed in profile, the lumber region curves inward. Darts allow a shirt to also similarly curve inward, whereas simply tapering it from the side seams does not. In other words, darts help a shirt more closely follow the natural contours of the lower back.

Other reasons to favor darts over tapering the sides: darts are usually cheaper, and they can be undone if you decide you aren't happy with the result. Tapering the sides, on the other hand, involves actual cutting of the material and completely redoing the seams, so it's a riskier and irreversible operation.

Thanks flyswatter, that was a lot of help... I definitely just need some darts

Guys that are a bit muscular, how do the shirts fit for you? They don't make a slim in my size.

I have a 44" chest and a 34" waist and wear the classic fit. I have not tried the slim fit because it looks as though the chest would be too small in my size, 16.5. I normally wear Ledbury shirts as casual shirts and they're not that blousy. They're slimmer than a lot of other manufacturers classic fit. I like a very tapered slim fit when I'm wearing a suit or sport coat, usually Brooks Brothers slim fit. They have a very good return policy if you're not satisfied with the shirt.

Hi jakeyt -

As mentioned above, our classic fit shirts are a bit more tailored throughout the body than most retailers. If you are muscular in the chest with a smaller waist, the shirts may be a bit large in the torso for you. If you'd like to PM or email me your measurements, I'm happy to assist further - mel@ledbury.com.

All best,

Mel

Hi all -

I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce several new product classes we've added in recent months, as well as tell you about some exciting projects happening over at Ledbury!

There have been a lot of fit questions as of late, so I wanted to pass on our new fit guide. We've revamped it a bit to give a better visual of how our shirts, sweaters, and sport coats fit. If you all have any specific questions about fit, I'm happy to answer them here, or feel free to shoot me an email - mel@ledbury.com.

We've added a collection of sweaters to our product offering. Below are a couple of my favorites from the batch. All sweaters are made in Italy from the finest Merino wool, cashmere,

The Beige Thorpe Moto Henley (also available in navy), is made of beige superfine merino wool.  It is detailed with ribbed knit across the body, three buttons with leather loop closures, and a mock neck that fall perfectly along the collar bone and exposes just the right amount of shirt underneath.

The Grey Byrne Shawl Collar is another favorite. This sweater looks great over casual shirts as well as more subtly patterned shirts for the office.

I also wanted to mention that Ledbury will be in Georgetown for a Pop-Up Shop from November 22 - December 22. We're kicking off with a launch party this Thursday, November 21, fro 6-10 pm at our shop location - 1254 Wisconsin Ave. In true Ledbury fashion, some of our friends from Richmond joined us in Georgetown to help outfit the shop. All fixtures were built by Stinson Williford, our exterior signage is laser etched by Big Secret, and we’ll have a some amazing home goods from The Odd Couple to kit out the space. We'd love to see you there if you're in the area! RSVP - events@ledbury.com. Keep an eye out for more details about in store events throughout the holiday season.

Cheers,

Mel

Mel,

Thanks so much for your great assistance in the Georgetown pop shop--glad I finally had the chance to check out the shirts in person. I have to say I am really impressed with the fit, quality, and service. The slim fit is definitely the best off the rack option I've had yet.

I placed my first order and I hope it fits. I feel like I'm going totally blind here since the 'new fit guide' offers no meaningful measurements and, surprisingly, I've found very few photos of real guys wearing these shirts in the wild.

Ledbury - you really should fix the fit guide. Length and collar measurements plus a model of unknown dimensions wearing an unknown size really do nothing to inform the customer. And what is a 'size equivalent'? This is meaningless unless you reference specific brand(s) sizing.

I hope you enjoy your new shirt! We'd love to hear your feedback once you get a chance to try it on.

As for the fit guide, what would be helpful to include? We recently revamped our fit guide, but I'd love to know where you feel it is lacking and what we can do to improve. We want the process to be as easy as possible. Thanks!

Best,

Mel
