Do you know where the ones not marked "Made in China" were made? I'm not a general basher of Chinese-produced goods, but I've had bad luck with belts, so I'm hesitant.

mostly Italy. But even the ones made in China are of equal quality. If none were marked with any country of origin, I would guess Italy for them all.

I see. On reflection, my entire studly mother of pearl stud set (see what I did there?) is probably worth less than just one of those Kiton MoP buttons so it was probably a dumb question from the jump.

Meanwhile, not being experienced in feng shebay, why would someone bid against themselves over this shirt as "s***o" did earlier today? For that matter, why would anyone bid until the final second of an auction using their sniper app?

Ive done this before, but it does not affect the bid. Say you bid $100, but an hour later want to be sure you win and put in $150. Youll see an outbid notice in the history, but the price does not go up.

Stitchy, it looks like it wasn't meant to be. Why don't these dumb-ass shoemakers all use a last based on my feet? cloud.gif

The way eBay works is, you put in your bid for the highest price you would pay for an item.  Then eBay auto-bids up to that amount for you.

Say the current bid on a tie is $50.  I put in my auto-bid max amount at $200.  If somebody else then bids $51, eBay will automatically override their bid with a bid of $52 from me.  If you look in the log, it'll say my name for $50 and then my name for $52 right after it.  So I'm not bidding against myself, it's just registering that my bid is still the highest and I've staved off a counteroffer attempt.

The auto-bidding system also prevents sniping.  If my auto-bid max is $200, and the guy sniper bids $150 at the very last second, I still win.  It's impossible to know what other people's max bids are, so there's no guarantee of winning with a last-second sniper bid unless the sniper bid is exorbitantly high.

Which we, at LuxeSwap, encourage on all our auctions.

Sniping was a lot of fun back in the day. But yeah, the autobid is for the best.
