Names you WANT to be named

Seems all name forums are dominated mainly by women and I wonder if men really love the names Luca, Noah, Romeo and Oliver as much as women do. They just seem so soft, perfect for babies and boys but not very manly IMO.

So what names do you like, that you would be proud to be named today?

We are due in 6 months and thinking of -

Roman (gladiator?), Anton (too dated?), Adam (boring?), Alessandro (meh?) or Adrian (soft?)

opinions please on these names too!

What's your background? Hard to gauge the names. I want to name a child Javier or Orlando, after male relatives, but I have a "Mc" last name, so it would be goofy. Several of those names connotate a certain ethnicity.

I have a Mc last name and used Javier as my second son's middle name. His first name starts with M and can e multi-ethnic.

All shite. And why the Ital version of the English name?

I really like Javier, but being that I am jewish, my wife told me to **** off.



op, non of those names are very good, unless you happen to be of that enthicity, and even then they would be better as middle names.


I would highly suggest that you read freakenomics before you hame your kid some silly name.

Roman (women's fashion designer), Anton (hairdresser?), Adam (cultist), Alessandro (bi-sexual) or Adrian (girl)

Just pick a name from a family member that was born before names started becoming ridiculous.

I do not understand this generation's need to name their babies Rain, Apple, Coco, etc.

Those names are so last generation. Nowadays your hipper parents change the spellings, using a different combination of letters to produce (roughly) the same sound. Like Raynne, Ahpul, and Kocowe.

or the azn obsession of naming their kid after an american president's family name (kennedy, lincoln, reagan, washington, jefferson...)

Wow, I hadn't heard of that one. That seems odd. Does anyone name their kid Nixon?

EDIT: FWIW, the best name for a boy is Lindsay. Science has proven this. It's what I would name my son if I had one, and if no one else vetoed my choice. (And let's be honest, someone probably would.)

this. or a name that is in some other way meaningful to you, and wont make your kid hate you.

Adrian or Adam sounds OK to me. Just don't call them Brooklyn or Chelsea or Paris or Prince or Caesar or Tyson or Fang or Rainbow anything silly like that. If it's a boy, please don't call him Sue. Luca is not a good name either, makes think of that Suzanne Vega song and the torment and bullying that can happen in a school playground. Noah is about the animals going in two-by-two, and as for Romeo...."Wherefore Art Thou Romeo?" Suggest you avoid calling him Jesus or Moses as well.

Whatever you name your little one, that's the name he or she has to grow-up with and go to school with.
