Tie-style

Hi!

I've got a charcoal suite with thin pinstripes. I want to wear a plain white or light blue shirt with it.
So my question is: which kind of tie (color and pattern) should I choose for my tie? Stripes, squares, plain?

Pindots look great with pinstripes to me:

Anything with a pattern should be a good mix for a pinstripe suit. Circles, dots, squares etc.

I agree too so long as the patterns are subtle with hints of blue/red colors on it.

Yes.

Charcoal suit and plain white or light blue shirt means you can wear just about any tie you want. I honestly can't think of a tie color or style that wouldn't work- the only thing I would avoid would be a tie with stripes close to the size and spacing of the stripes on the suit.

So a nice regimental stripe, a paisley, a pindot, a medallion design, a check, some random geometric- the world is your oyster.

I would start with a wine or burgundy color (but not bright red) with any combination of white, blue or silver dots. Then a blue or navy tie with any combination of white, silver or burgundy/redish dots. For a third tie add a pattern like paisley with a navy background.

This would look just as good with a grey pinstripe suit

Agreed!

I agree, you can probably get away with most styles wearing a fine pinstripe and plain shirt. Checks are very popular here in Oz at the moment
