Alexander Nicolette Shoes - Anybody know anything about them?

I picked up a pair of "Alexander" shoes from a store that was being liquidated today. The liquidators told us the shoes were $150, which was lower than than $190 at cost price the business had purchase them. I managed to get him down to $125 (Canadian $).

The shoes appear to be good quality: leather soles, good craftsmanship, not a glue job. For the price, I am very happy with them. However, I am admittedly new to good shoes.

What I can tell so far is:

  • They have a webpage with limited information in Italian: http://www.alexandershoes.it/ita/
  • They used to make shoes for Borelli
  • They appear to be hand made in Italy

(I've tried searching and this is all I've come up with)

Does anyone know anything else? Is this good value?

Thanks!

Interesting. I have pair of Alexander shoes - norvegese chisel toes. They don't say made in italy though. How and where is Alexander written on your shoes? Is it cursive lettering?

If you check out the meermin thread in the first few pages there is a photo of an Alexander shoe with insinuation that they are a chinese made shoe. For the high quality delivered as well as low price combined with true hand welting, it strikes me very likely that they are chinese made and not italian or spanish. More info is needed

It says "Alexander" on the box and inside the shoe. Neither are in cursive. The bottom says "Made in Italy".

OK probably unrelated to my shoes then. I guess Alexander is a common enough name anyways.

Jader,

For $125, they are pretty good deals!

Can you help us out by describing the sizing? How do they compare to other brand sizes? Thanks.

An Italian outlet in Sydney has sold them and I understood they were a good shoe.

How is sizing compared to other brands? I am usually a UK sized 8.5F and US sized 9.5D. Thank you.

Italian shoes generally follow the British sizing unless they are in metric where UK 10 = EUR44 UK 9 = 43 for instance. Italian width is like USA "E" or big "D".
