What Wedding Band is in Style?

Thread Starter

Hi all. I am getting married in October and my fiance needs to know what kind of wedding band I want.  I have never really thought about it before and I'm sure you can't go wrong with a standard gold band, but was curious if there is a trend.  I am looking for something conservative, yet stylish.  I don't want to get something that will go out of style in a few years.  Any insight is appreciated.

Cartier Love Ring, also called the rolling ring. Three simple bands that roll arount each other, one white gold one rose gold one yellow.Cartier+Trinity+ring_original.jpg

Why not stick with a classic?

When I got married I faced exactly the same decision. After considering all my options, I decided to go with the tried and proven choice that will remain classic for generations to come -- a simple rose gold ring. Some of my friends chose more risqué options that were "in style" back then, but, frankly, now those rings look a bit dated.

"Classic" is no wedding band for the man.

If you're going to wear your wedding band forever, you should stay away from something stylish and/or novel.

A 5-6mm round/shouldered band in plain gold will always look appropriate. Here's something made from recycled gold, if you care about that sort of thing.

Not too big, not too small, no twiddly bits on it and it should not have the manufacturer's name plastered over the outside of it. uhoh.gif
My old man never wore one (though his father did). My wife thought I wasn't taking it seriously when I suggested we didn't bother with one for me though.

I'm getting married on Saturday. For that we just picked up a simple 14k white gold rounded band. I will lose it or break it somehow so it wasn't worth spending more than a few hundred on. If that.

+100. Saw some Men's rings at Tiffany's for 3k and up. If I am going to spend 3k on something, it'll be a watch not a wedding band.

I picked up a 4mm milgrain palladium band (from these folks) a year and a half ago. It was $255 marked down 10% to $229.50; I guess either the price of Pd has gone up or they've realized they can charge more.

A slim platinum-toned milgrain band will never go out of style. After over a year of wear, it's got a nice burnished patina and I remain quite pleased with it.

I will be married for 33 years this August and I lost my wedding band 22 years ago and haven't wore one since. Doesn't seem to bother SWMBO very much and it has no effect on the opposite sex with hitting on me.
