Songs where the cover is better than the original

Thread Starter
I want to buy some new songs at iTunes to listen to at the gym.

I like songs where the cover is better than the original.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Fun Boy 3 "Our Lips Are Sealed"
Bongo's "Mambo Sun"
The Remains "Lonely Weekends"
The Yayhoos "Dancing Queen"
Gourds "Gin and Juice"

Collide's cover of "White Rabbit"

Bryan Ferry's rendition of "Amazing Grace" from the Taxi album is the best cover of that song I've ever heard. And there are a LOT of covers of "Amazing Grace".

Mozart's Salieri

Not really better, but the Big Yellow Taxi cover from a couple years back(Counting Crows?) is some good stuff.

The Man Who Sold the World, Nirvana Unplugged in New York

This thread was done already but:

Foo Fighters: Baker St.
Concrete Blond: Little Wing (ok, this one's debateable)

Guns N Roses - Knockin On Heaven's Door
Johnny Cash - Hurt (not necessarily "better", but equally awesome)

The two best covers of all time are Tainted Love by Soft Cell and my personal favorite is Cake's I will Survive - much better than Gaynor.

Other notable covers include:

All Along the Watchtower by Hendrix

Knockin on Heaven's door by Clapton or even GNR. Basically, any cover of a Dylan song is guaranteed to be better than his singing.

Summertime by Janis Joplin

Little Wing by SRV

With a little help from my friends by Joe Cocker

While my guitar gently weeps by Jeff Healy (and Phish's version is not bad but I prefer The Beatles)

Bizarre Love Triangle by Frente

Dy'er Maker by Shery Crow

Leavin' on a Jet Plane by Chantal Kreviazuk

Lenny Kravitz' American Woman is an honourable mention but I still prefer the Guess Who

and Can't get no satisfaction is an Otis Redding song (not Rolling Stones)

Funny. I think this is about the worst cover of a song in the history of rock. Just a complete misinterpretation of the song. Their cover of Live and Let Die was pretty good, though.

Any of Tim O'Brien's (eg, 'Red on Blonde' album) or Tony Rice's covers of Bob Dylan.

St. Etienne's Only Love Can Break Your Heart (orig Neil Young?) is amazing. They also do a cover of The Field Mice's Let's Kiss and Make Up.

Worst cover ever must be Clapton's I Shot The Sheriff.
