We had an interesting little discussion on ways in which guys who normally wear tailored clothes can go about developing their casual wardrobe. It didn't actually generate any direct advice - some of the conclusions are a little depressing - but I think that's more in acknowledgement of the fact that people need to figure these things out for themselves.
Anyway, this was a nice post by F.Corbera presenting the case for casual tailoring.

Neither am I. I am specifically focusing on (1) dudes in the MC casual thread seeking remedy in (2) the StyFo SW&D subforum.
In the recent casual looks that I like to which I linked above, the SW&D influence is slight or completely absent.
Do I think that an open mind and inquisitive nature is a good thing? Yes.
Do I think that dudes struggling through looking good in the MC casual forum can fix their problems by looking at SW&D threads? Mostly, no.
There is more than sufficient range for an MC casual look to succeed without that, and it is my conjecture that staying close to home is likely to lead to a greater chance of success for the guy who otherwise wears coat and tie.
1. He can wear a casual suit casually without a tie:

2. He can wear an odd jacket without a tie:

3. He can use classic accessories, and casual jackets, shirts and pants:

4. And yes, he can wear jeans:

I mean, I could go on. All these images except the first were once posted on SF, BTW.
The current lack of inspiration does not mean a lack of possibility or the absence from reality. It is just a forum problem, specifically, a Styleforum 2012 problem.
And that is? Not a lot of good posters.
