National Hockey League 2012-2013 Thread - Page 29

That looked pretty bad. Hopefully this doesn't have any serious consequences for his career... that would be a big loss.

On a related note, Manny Malholtra is done for the season and according to Bobby Mack it just comes down to it being unsafe for him to play on account of his eye not being 100%. Best guesses say he will retire and join the Canucks front office... such a shame for such a dominant two-way player.

On a completely unrelated note, I crushed men's league tonight. Had a shutout going until 3 minutes left when my d-man tipped in a point shot by accident. Had some epic desperation saves though... wore my Flames jersey that I wore to the Detroit game that Calgary won so I was channeling all of that luck they had. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif love that feel when you are driving the other team insane.

What's this, a capitals winning streak? Not feeling as bad about buying tickets for next saturday's afternoon game.

I had a feeling the Flyers would respond well after getting destroyed the last few games. It was good to see Giroux back up his talk. The big test will be the Pens on Wed.

no wonder the Habs are winning - they dump or ice the puck until the other team falls asleep, then they take advantage of it. Holy shit that game was boring to watch.

also, that hit on Hossa was dirty as all hell

Most ex NHLers now analysts who comment on it say it was reckless and started off with a genuine attempt to get the puck then it goes all wrong - not sure why. Maybe he is bracing for a collision and does it all wrong needless to say.

But there isn't a player in the NHL who would call Hansen a dirty player.

Hope Hossa is okay as I really like him as a player despite him being a Hawk. The contact was not outrageous compared to a lot we see, its possible now that Hossa has had a major concussion he is more sensitive to another.

Hansen will get suspended and in fairness he should as a message needs to be sent to keep elbows down no matter what the scenario is.

In Europe any head contact is 2 + 10 and you barely get head shots as a result. Skate through the crease and play stops (no penalty just a face off). Again virtually no goalie contact exits.

You could do that in the NHL and still preserve good hitting.

saw another replay and noticed they were both going for the puck. Def. reduces the dirty in my book, though reckless I'd totally agree with, especially with the elbows up that high and the force to the back of the head so strong.

Ruff out as coach of the Sabres, a position he has been at since 1997. A shame, but they needed a shakeup.

170 coaching changes during his tenure. Pretty incredible, and though he did do an okay job I'd say he is slightly overrated.

to be fair, it's not like he had a frequent cast of superstars in front of him, and he got the team to a number of conference finals and one fucked-over Stanley Cup final. As far as stars go (no SCF pun intended), Hasek would be one and I'd argue Miller is another, but besides that it's more like guy developed really well under him and then bolted for big contracts (Campbell, Briere, Drury come to mind. Vanek would be another, but they matched that ridiculous contract offer from the Oilers).

having literally the best goaltender to ever play the game in hasek + miller who had some insane seasons will do a lot for a team. im not saying he's terrible, he did good things in the past but i think its clear he wore out his welcome. i dont think regier is a good gm either... for all the money that's spent and acquisitions made, the team is a bit of a mess.

lol8[1].gif at the Flyers-Pens. 5 on 2.5 PP... I would've laughed if they didn't score on that.

edit: Bryz, u mad bro
