So now you guys show up... Ah, it was fun while it lasted. Didn't see any of the game but it affirms why I don't like quarterfinal byes.

As a Canadian, and this being the only thing we're good at, I'm ashamed.

The pre-tournament excitement surrounding the "lockout-year Canadian super-team" really panned out well...
If there is a God, TC will stop favoring the OHL, drop the WHL grinders, and give the Q players a decent shot.

Subban over Binnington?
Ryan Murphy?
MacKinnon and Drouin not on the same line?
MacKinnon as a 13th forward?
WTF Steve. WTF.

The Russia - Sweden game has been so much fun to watch. Shootout for the gold round now.

Russia and Canada for a bronze...

Weird.

all 5 US goals vs. Canada were scored by college players. Nice.

You also have your NHL team to be ashamed of.

I caught a bit of the second period and it was excellent. Very fast, and I'm glad to see Sweden make it somewhere after Binghampton refused to release Mika Zibanejad who scored the OT winner for gold last year.

Seriously - bronze or gold, I think its still going to be a really nasty match. I have a bad feeling about this year, though - I think this may be where our medal streak ends.

I wonder if there will be the same schadenfreude from Canadian fans like there was last year, cheering for Sweden because Russia beat Canada... I know I'm torn. When it comes down to European teams, Finland is my go-to so I feel like I can't cheer for Sweden. But the USA did just beat Canada... I don't know. It'll be a good game for sure, and I'm glad the USA is making it somewhere after last year's disappointment.

Yeah Steve Spott is a clown. I had some questions about the team going in... relying on "top end talent" only works when you have more than RNH and to a lesser extent Huberdeau. The comparisons they drew to the 2005 lockout team with Crosby, Bergeron etc were erroneous - Crosby is a generational talent, not someone who just happened to be rated #1 in their draft year. Didn't see the USA game but with a 5-1 score you have to level some blame on Subban so I guess my concerns weren't unfounded.

I think the junior team will always need someone like Sutter coaching who yells and screams a lot and espouses the value of work ethic over everything - you can be good all you'd like but if you come up that poorly in a semi-final game, its certainly not from a lack of talent.

Anywhere to stream a replay online or will I have to wait for the TV replay tonight?

he's having an awesome sophomore year at BC with 23 points in 14 games. I wonder if he'll turn pro at the end of the season.

Not bad for a guy who is 5-8 and just over 150

The game has changed so much since I was that age. Those were my stats junior and senior year in HS (18 years ago, Jesus I'm old), and even in the shitty NYC Catholic High School leagues I would have been a wimpy player. Whenever the team travelled upstate or to New England they'd get POUNDED by much bigger guys and teams. Nice to see.
