it's a total toss-up this year

i'm still rooting for arsenal, hoping that their "never having lost yet at their new home" will get them through what is otherwise likely a losing campaign and as such, realistically, man u will likely take it in athens .....

They've got to win by two in London, I think; PSV is supposedly not great this year, but that's still a tough task...

Agree about the toss-up - it's a tough call all around, but United are certainly capable of great things when they click, as they have for much of this season.

I had such high hopes for this thread, and then it died; meanwhile the hockey thread is still going strong...

Come on, lads - I know it's best over a couple pints, but let's have some vigorous debate here... Edit: Even in a toss-up year, does it really make sense for bookmakers to have Chelsea winning the thing?

you should have seen the world cup thread from last year. i moved a few months ago and no longer have gol tv, fox sports español, or any of the other stations i watched the games on, so i really can't comment on any of the teams except to say that inter are my favorite side in europe and they deserve it. also, until they lose, barcelona are still the team to beat. p.s. i know the champion's league matches are on espn2, but i don't have time during the day to watch them. if inter make it to the semis, i'll start ditching work.

As usual, Roma have given little reason for hope going in to this match, whereas Lyon seem to be back in stride. We drew to the cellar club, Ascoli on Saturday and Chievo on Wednesday - wildly inconsistent.

It'll be tough to win at Lyon, but everything I've heard suggests they're def. beatable.

The next couple of days should be really interesting,I can't remember the last 16 games ever being as poised as this.I truly think that every team still has a chance of progressing.

i think with this week's matches, things will be more clear as to who may take the title in athens, because as of now, it can swing any way with any set of matches in this leg

the liverpool / barca match-up tomorrow is likely the most interesting but hopefully chelsea will be done in by porto tomorrow ....

Would love to see it - Mourinho is such an arrogant $#!@* - I've really come to despise them.

I agree that 'Pool / Barca has all the makings for a real thriller....

I really can't see Chelsea losing to Porto...

Also, I'm not a huge fan of the Chosen One, but I have a decent amount of respect for him. Without question, he's benefited from the ownership's freespending ways, but he's also helped make Chelsea one of the premier clubs in Europe; deep pockets or no, that's a lot harder to do than winning with a perennial powerhouse that has deep pocket and a strong tradition of winning.

I'll take Roma too, not as a fan but as a savvy observer of continental football.

And I agree with Liverpool and Chelsea, but I think Inter will prove their mettle and win in Valencia.
