Not trying to hate on you, PT, but posting on an internet forum of strangers quasi-revealing pictures of women that you have dated might be the least stylish thing I could possibly think of.

From my personal experience: Invest in shoes and make your existing clothes fit you. A proper fit and polished shoes go a long way.

It's was mostly likely the way he was standing. The clothes had nothing to do with it.

Not sure if the introduction is all that important. I just try to come across friendly and not on the make. Also, I will tend to put my hand on a woman briefly to emphasize a point, women do this in talking to eachother. I had a guy do this to me and he wasn't gay, strange.

Finally, I am every other guys wingman. If some guy is talking to a girl I know, I'll praise his virtues, and if there is some guy standing by himself and he seems like a nice guy, I'll ask his name and take him over to meet some girls. I figure we're all in this together, and another man's gain is not necessarily my loss. I think girls appraciate guys who just aren't just out for themselves.

A woman looking at a well dressed man will probably think to herself that "he's a well dressed man". Well dressed gay or heterosexual men will probably wear the same clothes. A gay man dressing in a very flamboyantly gay way (big puffy shirt, assless leather chaps with a leather vest) or a man dressed in a flamboyantly heterosexual way (wife beater, Walmart jeans made into cut-off shorts, or shitty J Crew khakis several sizes too large) cannot be considered well dressed.

This is Styleforum where people post questions and seek advice. From the advice given and style opinion offered, it is near impossible to tell who is gay or straight.

No woman will look at a well dressed man and think that because he is well dressed he may be gay and therefore not worth talking to. Am I the only person who detects slight homophobia in the OP? And while being well dressed may make you appear attractive and non-threatening, all bets are off when you open your mouth. From some of the rants, bragging and confrontational language, I sense desperation. I wish you luck in your endeavor to pick up fashion aware women off the street.

But we all do get checked out by gays a lot. ^^
