Some crooked scoring going on in wrestling against the USA. The 2nd period of the Jake Herbert match was ridiculously scored 0-6 when it should have been 3-3. Scott should have gotten points at the end of both of the periods.

Both medal matches we're tense thrillers. In extra time the Koreans missed three consecutive penalties and fell short by 2 goals to Spain. And how often does one to get to see Montenegro compete? Its first Olympic medal.

Not broadcasted, not event highlights.

I'm hunting down the event on the torrent sites.

Here's the throw. After gaining his feet Hwang had to chase the horse down and remount it.

why can't the US start a handball program with an eye towards medaling in Rio? seems like all the skills and athletic ability that let us dominate basketball can be applied in handball...

We told you yesterday about the weird event of modern pentathlon, one discipline of which is show jumping with an "unfamiliar horse."

I think Simmons on ESPN was talking about that. Get some guys that would have been on mediocre mid-major NCAA teams and push them into handball.

Europe has professional handball leagues; players got to eat. Converting US b-ball players is probably the easy part. Now paying 'em, that's another matter.

Same prolly holds for a few other spots, rugby for instance.

+1

I was Googling Zola Budd when I saw Uceny fall last night. I excitedly said to my wife "Holy shit, you fine-ass bitch (I actually said my wife's name), I was just right now looking up Zola Budd!" My wife, who's the same age as I am didn't know who I was talking about. plain.gif

I didn't realize she pulled back to take herself out of the medal race because the hisses and boos were raining down on her. Wonder if we'll ever see another barefoot runner.

In other "old Olympians I remember," my favourite lifter was Vasily Alekseyev from the Montreal games back when they were doing the Clean and Press. He was a beast.

I went back and watched this.

It was almost like the crowd was carrying Farah to the finish.

The announcers were great.
