Get in now, get in early.

I, for one, am looking forward to breathless Jimmy Roberts segments getting up close and personal with the American discus hopeful who overcame the tragic death of his favorite goldfish mere months before the Olympic Trials to throw a personal best and earn redemption for Clownie.

And to the Michael Phelps hype parade, where we will be treated to endless recaps of his stunning eight gold medal performance from 2008, replete with glowing tributes to the single mother who, ever contemptuous of her ex-husband, sprinkled HGH on her son's Froot Loops every morning until he resembled Gheorge Muresan more than his father.

And to welcoming Bob Costas and his Canali wardrobe into my house every night on our big screen, listening to him praise the warmth and spirit of the British people, never mentioning the elephant in the room that London's opening ceremonies looked like one of the early season train wreck audition episodes of X Factor in comparison to Beijing's.

In short it will be awful. I lived in Landahn Tahn for a few years and it was horrific at the best of times with the tube and summer heat.
Add a few hundred thousand people who have less than no clue as to where they are going and you have a pretty unbearable situation.
Also its cost over £9 billion (Declared) to put this corrupt crony festooned shambles on which means in order for it to be a viable purpose it will have to generate £18 billion in revenue.
Funny because analysts have speculated it will be lucky to generate £2 billion.

What I want to know is how do you get on the board and committee of these things.

Oh how terrible - all these foreigners and northerners in town! Same as every other day as far as I can see, London is always full of foreigners and northerners with less than no clue as to where they are going.

Funny because at first it was going to cost £4.5 billion, then £9 billion after we won it and cancelled a **** load of buildings (but not that rollercoaster thing for some reason) then £8 billion which means its under budget. Or nearly double the budget if you don't arbitrarily pick a figure just before you announce how much it will actually cost.

I'd love to hear what Boris Johnson actually thinks about that rollercoaster.

 At least most of the northerners want to leave ASAP.

Yes!

Also looking forward to the paltry track and field coverage (finals only), and instead getting multi-hour specatacles of equestrian, archery, ball-and-hoop gymnastics, and synchronized swimming. Because those are the events that symbolize the Olympic Ideal.

Bonus points if we're treated to highlights of Sir Roger Bannister or Seb Coe's great mile races, or the theme from Chariots of Fire at random intervals, or a Crookedest Teeth on a Hot Bird segment. Would hit (mouth closed)!

I haven't watched the summer games since they stopped showing complete wrestling matches. Then again, with the Freestyle wrestling changes in the last decade, the sport has become disturbingly boring.

So what's up with this women's 100m qualifying situation? Did they actually tie? I know their times were the same, but why did this Tarmoh chick pull out? Do photos show her crossing the line first or something? Seems like an f-ed up decision to make to me.

Looking forward to only seeing the events that feature Americans -- you know, most of the ones no other country takes seriously so only wealthy countries really compete in them.

Oh, and I hope Michael Phelps wins another 8 gold medals just so people might start to think the entirety of the Olympic games is screwed up when a weightlifter who trains just as hard can only possibly win one despite needing to train for two different forms -- or the numerous track and field athletes that can't just move their arms or legs a different way and rack up the accolades.

Also looking forward to more Olympic committee corruption being brushed under the rug. Dur, let's let a Chinese judge verify Chinese athletes' age or send one judge during the off-season to see if the next biggest track star is doping or not.

Apparently she wasn't 'at peace' with the idea of running again. What that means, I have NO idea, but I can tell you that the sprinters I've known are typically high-strung. Imagine a litigation attorney who also sings soprano at the Met - that's your typical sprinter.

lol, she'd rather give up her spot than compete for it? probably better that she doesn't represent her country in the world's most prestigious competition...because she might, like, need to compete or something

i am looking for the return of Olympic diving to my life after a four year hiatus. eagerly anticipating one diver winning gold because his toes were pointing up better than the silver winning diver.

Nike probably helped her be at peace with not racing by providing her with a large undisclosed sum of money. There's no way Nike is going to allow Allyson Felix not to compete in the 100/200.

Tonight, 1.3 billion Chinese will be laughing in eerily choreographed, but entirely justified, unison.
