The reviews I have read disagree. Lack of dedicated GPU is hampering performance on the 15 inch version. Performance seems to slug because of it. I would be cautious to spend that kind of cash on a rig that may be laggy on a website like Facebook.

Next-generation GPUs should do a better job of driving these ultra high resolution displays, but today it looks like our biggest bottlenecks are software and single threaded CPU performance. In every situation where UI frame rate drops significantly on the rMBP, the offending application usually ends up consuming 100% of a single CPU core.
Note that this is for the 13" MBP.

The 15-inch model does have a discrete GPU, however I didn't notice a big performance difference in UI frame rates when I was on integrated vs. discrete graphics.
if you're in no rush, I'd wait. as with almost every single Apple release, its better to get in on the 2nd iteration. I'm sure they'll stuff a dedicated gpu, or some sort of tech improvement inside during the next upgrade.
I don't think I'll ever purchase any variant of the MBPs. Just not worth it to me and I highly value the portability of the MBAs.
I just wish we could get a rMBA with better battery life. For a dude like me who only uses his laptop for browsing, email, music, and videos, the MBA is wayyyy more than enough to meet my needs.
Anandtech speculates that Haswell, the next major iteration of the Intel Core architecture, will go a long way towards fixing this problem. The problem is that Apple's the first company that is trying to drive a Retina display, and Intel did not anticipate that their CPUs would be used like this.
Haswell-equipped MBPs might be out sometime late next year. Or maybe not.
i find that my biggest problems with Facebook are due to Facebook.
well, then getting a rMBP would be the perfect excuse never to have to go on there again. "why aren't you on facebook any more?" "because it crashes my computer."
