1. Was at the post office today, it's located inside a shopping center, I had to move 5 bike so I could get in and out again, via the side entrance where the post office is located, it's the same around mayor train stations.
2. Signs such a no entry, no parking & one way street etc. have no meaning. the same goes for traffic lights.
3. It's okay to punch cars and hit pedestrians if they are in your way, even if they are where they should be, such as the zebra crossings.
4. texting, eating a sandwich and listening to music is while you ride around is okay and not unsafe at all.
5. If a lorry is in the right turning lane and is trying to turn right, you have to try to see if you can get between it and the pavement, as you are invincible and wont die if it hits you and loosing 20sec on your commute is not an option, (every morning I see the local grocery shop delivery truck reverse in through their narrow driveway and cyclists do not stop for it when it covers the bikepath and 70% of the sidewalk, no you go up on to the sidewalk behind it or out in to the street to play with the cars).
6. using lights at night is a no-no, as it would make you more visible and what's the fun in that, when you can play the dark knight/ninja and it's always the car drivers fault if they hit you and pedestrians can move.
I could go on.
1. Why aren't there enough parking spaces for bikes? Also, could you imagine the chaos if all of these people would have been driving a car? Speaking of parking, what about all the cars that park/stop in the bike lane? Sure, if you're just going to drop someone off, then use the bike lane, but if you're going to actually turn off the engine, then do it in a designated parking spot. If you car driving cunts would stop parking in the bike lane, a lot of accidents would be avoided.
2. That is true for cars as well. maybe not for no entry, but for the others, cars do this just as much. At least here in Beijing. Also, if you start the same time as the cars, you'll be stuck with them and overtaken by them, which, given the driving behavior of many motorists, isn't very safe. Therefore many cyclists want to either get out ahead, or not stop at all.
3. No, that's not okay. There are asshole bikers too. On the other hand, if there are people that either 1. walk in the bike lane, or 2. (this is usually a group) walk in a way that makes a collision unavoidable(for example walking 4 people side by side in a 10 ft wide street) then I will absolutely not be sorry if I hit them. If you are stupid enough to walk where the bikes are supposed to ride, or too stupid to pay attention to the road ahead of you, then you deserve to get hit.
4. So talking on the phone, doing your makeup, drinking coffee, and reading text messages is somehow okay, as long as you are in a car? At least there is a pretty reasonable chance of you not getting seriously hurt when you get hit by a bike.
5. Why is it that all car/truck drivers see the bike lane as a "multi purpose lane" that they can use as they please? It's NOT!!
6. Yea, that's an issue.
Bonus feature: Car doors. Motorists seem to think that their car doors are made of air, alternatively that everyone knows that they'll open the door. I can't even remember how many times I narrowly avoided getting hit by a car door. Given the sharp edges, that has potential for some serious damage.
In the end, you have to ask yourself the following question: What would you rather get hit by: a 120kg bike traveling at a top speed of maybe 15mph(in the city, including breaking) or a 2 ton car. As a biker, I ask myself the question of Pedestrians vs car, and I can honestly say, I'd rather run over some pedestrians rather than getting hit by a car.
