Got my Cyber Monday order in.  It is amazing how fast a package can travel from India.  Fascinating to watch the FedEx tracking.

 

As far as the package contents, I am not quite thrilled.  But the upside first.  Fit and finish are good.  Sizing seems according to my measurements.  The "Lustrous Fine White" seems to be a nice fabric, especially for the price point. 

 

Complaints:

 

1) Black Friday/Cyber Monday promo was B.S.  Got a blue and red check pocket square.  Looks like it was made from remnants.  Not remotely related to either shirt I ordered.  Did anyone actually get the collar stays?

 

2) Buttons.  I am a big guy with a big shirt.  These are the smallest buttons I have ever seen on a shirt.  They are also concave and relatively uncomfortable to manipulate.  I will try to live with them but may be a deal breaker.

 

3) Fabric. White shirt was good.  Blue shirt is far darker than the website shows. Far too dark for a dress shirt.  Might be ok for a sport shirt.  Really makes me distrust any shading that I see on the site.

Am I crazy or is that a ridiculous difference?  I will probably keep it.  Just not thrilled with the idea of shipping it all the way back to India. 

 

I have ordered MTM from several vendors, and none are perfect.  I had high hopes for Luxire's product.  As of right now I am not so sure if I will order again.

A couple shirts arrived today. They just keep getting better imo. I think I prefer the irregular, hand-sewn monogram to the machine one. But both are good. I definitely prefer the smaller, concave buttons to any other type.

I'll try to post pics of these shirts and the pants in a couple days. Work is finally winding down.

Can't wait to see some pics of the pants. When those are added to the website, will there be an option to ship a pair of existing trousers to have an exact copy made?

Received my shirt today, and this is the best shirt/money I've ever experienced. The fit was excellent, just as I asked; the unfused bd-collar is exceptionally delightful to wear; the sky blue oxford is soft but sturdy, I couldn't ask for more! Advise anyone on the fence to jump in and try it, miles ahead of ModernTailer IMO.

 

My earlier post may have bit a bit harsh.  For that I apologize.  I was sincerely looking forward to a good experience and was disappointed.  In retrospect, while I had a few other issues, the blue shirt fabric was my biggest disappointment.  I was just nothing like the website picture.

 

I would like to address your points above, but first, more positive feedback.  Craftmanship looks good.  I took the white shirt to the cleaners this morning and gave it a once over.  Fabric is high quality for the price.  Everything was finished well.  Fusing on cuffs and collars was well done.  The collar stays are impressive just to look at and feel.

 

Buttons: I did a quick check of my closet this morning.  Every button was bigger than the Luxire buttons.  These included shirts from 2 MTM vendors, Nordstrom, Polo and Peter Millar.  They are simply small.  They seem to be of high quality.  Maybe a larger size could be an option.  There was also only a single replacement button for each size.  Again, at your price point, I get it, but offer options. I would pay extra for an extra supply of replacements.
 

Black Friday special: I would have ordered regardless, but the special did push my time frame for getting the measurements done.  I ordered 2 shirts, one on an upgrade fabric.  I read the special as one bonus per shirt.  In re-reading, I can see how it might not have been.  There was nothing wrong with the pocket square, but it is simply not my style (or the style of anything I ordered), collar stays or plain fabric would have been nice.  Sorry for the harshness, I just think the execution was a bit off.  Again, not a deal breaker for me.

Dancingbear, it's understandable that you would have been disappointed about the Black Friday special based on your expectations. But I think you downplay the role of your mistaken expectations. The deal certainly wasn't "BS" as you wrote above. Ashish's post clearly states it's one freebee per customer, not one per shirt. The square you received is one of the ones depicted and imo, it's clearly in the style of what you ordered. You ordered a white shirt and a blue checked shirt and received a red, white and blue checked square. Imo it's the most complementary square of the bunch depicted. If you had a preference from the ones depicted, it would have been good to communicate that with your order, no? The one thing that might have been a bit difficult to understand in Ashish's post was the slash between stays and square, but a slash is commonly used for "or" not "and."

On the other hand. I definitely agree with you that the picture of the blue shirt on the website is significantly lighter than what you received, or lighter than your picture at least. Although the description of the shirt calls it "navy." Still... the website could use some work in standardizing descriptions. Of course, ordering a shirt online is going to have its difficulties, since there are so many variables in fabric and expectations. I took a risk by ordering this green checkered shirt. I hoped it was a lightweight, porous weave but the website didn't mention that. (It does now on my recommendation.) Fortunately, it was as I had hoped.

It might be good to offer samples, probably for a minimal fee, like $1 for the first one and $.25 for others.

 

emptym, you are 100% correct.  Disappointment is based on expectations.  I believe that as a consumer, it is important to provide a retailer feedback on those expectations.  It might have been better to share parts of my disappointment in private rather than on the forum, but it is also important that we share experiences with each other here.

 

I agree with the swatching suggestion.  I have no problem paying for swatches.  I just ordered a few dozen swatches for Sam Hober ties.  

 

I really like what Luxire is trying to do.  I had high expectations.  Before receiving my order, I was prepared to order another 4 to 8 shirts right away.  Buttons aside, I still may.  But I would be more inclined to pull the trigger if I did not have to worry about the fabrics.   

 

I can't speak for everyone, but I would welcome the opportunity to include some swatches with an order that is already shipping.  Up to $1 per swatch depending on the size of the swatch would work for me.

 

I will take you up on the larger buttons.  I want to get a couple of wearings on what I just ordered so I can adjust the sizing properly, then I'll be ready to place another order.  What's the ETA on the larger MOP buttons?  Thanks for the reply!
