It depends on your natural tendency to run either hot or cold. That being said, most people aren't as sensitive to the weight of trousers as they are to the weight of a jacket.
I would be fine with 16oz for the entirety of fall and winter but also wouldn't be opposed to some of the heavier weights you mention. I'd imagine you might have an issue with indoor heating at the heaviest weights but don't own any, so I can't say with certainty. I would start off ordering the 16oz and then go from there. You should still have time to order a couple heavier pairs before the winter weather really comes, assuming your winter timeline is similar to ours on the east coast.
OK, thanks for the reply.
That is a good idea. I will probably order a new pair of jeans, might order swatches of the moleskin and corduroy trousers that are of interest and take it from there.
Which collar-style would you recommend for a casual linen or linen-cotton shirt? Button-down, does it work from the looks? I like a good collar stand without a tie, but also a soft collar.
Hidden button down with a italian spread and soft lining/no fusing in the collar and hard linging/no fusing in the collar band (below)?
One-piece collar with soft lining (below)?
NOBD collar with soft lining?
Satriano-Cinque-style collar band with soft lining like shown at Permanent Style:
Sounds promising, albeit I would go for a moderate spread, since in my case extreme cutaways doesn't look good without a tie. Great samples!
I wanted a hidden button gauntlet. Luxire posted a picture of it and I asked for it. The one they posted had a loop for the button as opposed to this. I think this is too much fabric. The buttons are nice, but too thick for my taste. The buttons are shanked. I'm fearful of them popping off.
I also asked for the hidden button gauntlet right after Luxire posted a picture of it, but got exactly what you did. I was a little disappointed and decided to just forego it on the order I placed a week ago.
