Luxire just cranked out an OCBD in 7 business days for me. Minimal adjustments to my pattern. Super impressed, as always.

Went with a full standard placket but shortened the length over the usual dress shirt, goes really well tucked in with trousers for a smart casual look or with shorts.

might be able to get a pic later today but im sure there's other members with fit pics of a longflower on a polo.

Actually my order was inspired by this SF member, just with the longflower collar:  http://www.greedanddisgust.com/blog/2014/10/12/custom-polo-shirt-by-luxire

Is anybody else getting a warning when accessing @timotune's collar doc that it's in the trash can and going to be deleted? Is there a new link?

So I am going to be frank and ask a few questions:

(1) Has anybody had any BAD experiences with Luxire? Their reviews seem glowing. They seem to do the MTM lines for a lot of well respected bespoke tailors. They are very quick to answer questions. They seem more than willing to try new designs and work with a customer on very specific requests. Their pricing is very competitive.

It all seems to good to be true. I've been burned by MTM programs in the past, please someone assuage my fears! I would like to have traditional British soft tailored suits made up although I am open to trying a more constructed jacket like Huntsman and if that goes well, why not try an unlined, unconstructed Naples style jacket as well? Luxire really seems like they can handle anything! Am I being foolish?

(2) Does Luxire offer a CMT option for suits and shirts? Any idea the pricing on that? I think it could be fun to go shopping in NYC for wool or cotton that strikes my fancy and then buying it, shipping it to have it put on a suit--or shirt--just for me. I know a lot of the fabric stores closed in Manhattan, but there must be some left? Acorn I know sells their cottons direct to consumer and has a good website, which is very very rare in this industry...

I am interested mainly in British suiting fabrics and Swiss shirt fabrics.

(3) I am trying to find the perfect casual jacket to wear in chilly NYC weather that is not too formal but not too shabby. I saw a Kiton waterproof jacket at Bergdorf's in the spring at $6500, I balked, not to mention, they didn't have the right size. I have also liked many of the Loro Piana storm system jackets I have seen. Luxire says they are willing to copy any jacket that I find for this but I wanted to ask in the community here for suggestions on a nice jacket that can work with a shirt and tie or a sweater walking around the park. I was thinking cashmere outer fabric, some type of water repellant and wind breaker interior material along with insulation, then some type of lining (or maybe unconstructed) with a zipper and buttons. Any visual inspiration or any ideas for this?

(4) Finally, has anybody have Luxire make up some sweaters for them? I have a few beautiful, well made and thick Shetland wool sweaters for US$100 each and coudln't be more happy (http://www.shetland-knitwear.com/classic.html and some pics of their beautiful collar: http://oxfordclothbuttondown.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Salmon-Spirit-of-Shetland.jpg ). They have countless colors and they have done a great job at following my measurements for a well fitting sweater (very hard to find knitwear that fits fat people well and their MTM program doesn't cost more money than the standard sizes).

But, variety is the spice of life (and in my case, the downfall as well), so I was considering trying Luxire for 1-2 sweaters, nice 2 ply cashmere which would probably look more tight/formal than my shetland wool knitwear.

(5) Has anybody tried their custom shoes? They look beautiful. How do they hold up? How do they feel?

Part of me would feel much more comfortable if I could go to India and talk to the customer service team in person and see some work in progress. I assume there is no store in India so this would not be possible? Yes, it's a long trip but I go to Mumbai several times a year and I now need an entire adult wardrobe, so the cost would be well covered by Luxire's great pricing.

(6) The website is very bad...has Luxire mentioned redesigning it? Any recommendations for how to browse the website most effectively?

Happy New Year!

Its not too good to be true, if you look back at the start luxire didn't always get it right or they didn't always have the resources to get it right.

But they strongly invested in customer service and comms, that's why you see so much love for them -combined with a willingness to try new things, all manner of customisations and engage with the forum and its members. They back up their craftsmanship with responsive customer service and if they make a mistake they are generally quick to remedy it or offer a solution.

I'm interested to know more...what colours, designs etc are you offering? What weight is the cotton?

Could you mimic the details of this for example?

@luxire, I'd like to give it a go, but I'd also be interested to know more about the weight/quality of the cotton and type of construction prior to ordering.

Would it be OK to send a jumper for replication?

That's really great to hear. I am always skeptical of online reviews especially on blogs, as typically there is a large conflict of interest. I am much more likely to take the opinions of forum users that post with no economic benefit over glitzy websites anyday. It just struck me that everybody loves luxire and I'm wondering why they aren't larger. there is so much CRAP being made in the made to measure space. They even make a paper pattern for customers! I wish them all the success into growing. I look at sites like propercloth.com and while their site is shiny, I don't think the quality compares to luxire, and the fanbase at luxire is much more passionaite than propercloth (although they have their passionate customers too...)

A very wide variety of weights can be done, almost anything. For colors, we can source a large variety of dyed and heather yarns in cotton.

In terms of styling, almost anything is possible.

We will be only limited by the availability of particular yarn, otherwise everything is possible.

Anything is possible. Do share images for definite answers.

The technology we will use will be state of the art. Yarns will be sourced from quality suppliers. The output will be comparable to the best available.

Another advantage for these new orders is that they will be made in a place that makes name brand sweaters. Once we are comfortable with everything, we plan in replicating the setup at our studio.

Very excited to hear about the knitwear offering!

Regarding pricing, will all of these styles be offered at $90 for the initial trial?

-shawl collar cardigans
-v-neck
-roll-neck
-cable knit

Also are patterns possible or solid colors only at this time?
