Hi guys, I'm planning out my first order from Luxire. Are body measurements the best way to go to ensure the right fit? Any tips that I should keep in mind?

Body measurements are probably the worst way to go for a good fit, as you can find many discussions of elsewhere in this gargantuan thread. The best approach would be sending them a shirt that already fits you well to be replicated, the second best would be measuring that shirt yourself and providing measurements. Get one tailored locally if necessary. If you just completely don't have any shirts that you're satisfied with, you'll probably have to do some iterating in the MTM process and should be prepared for some less than ideal outcomes until you get it right.

Send in a shirt that fits you well. The example shirt does not have to be perfect, but use that as a starting template and then add notes of the tweaks you want to make it a perfect shirt.

Has anyone ordered a pale pink shirt from Luxire that's not the Oxford weave? I was looking for something a little dressier, but with a matte presentation. I'm not exactly one for the shiny shirts.

I"m looking for the same. I changed my mind on the oxford pink.

Has anyone ordered

http://luxire.com/products/pale_pink_lustrous

is it shiny as how it looks from the picture? Is it darker than the picture? Lighter? Def don't want shiny pink happening when I"m at work

For my first Luxire order I measured my best-fitting shirt and sent them those measurements. The result was nearly perfect; I only had to change one thing for subsequent shirts.

To be fair, that best-fitting shirt was also custom made for me. If your own best-fitting shirt doesn't fit all that well this might not be the way to go.

Added a new Blue Gingham, perfect for summer.

This looks really nice... added to my wishlist. :)

Exactly the same here. Shirts seem simpler than trousers in this respect; there seems to be less room to interpret the same set of measurements in different ways. If you have a custom shirt already, just measure it, submit those measurements, and you'll get a great result from Luxire!

We are making improvements to the body measurements process and adding requirement of adding an image "almost mandatory".
It should be a good option once it stabilizes a bit more.

Also, we are working on a free shipping option for sending measurement shirts directly to India using DHL/Fedex. Simply place your order, print shipping label, call DHL/Fedex and handover your measurement shirt/pants.

They will reach us in 2 days and your order will be moving quickly.

You can also send your images wearing the measurement shirt/pants and request changes.

Thanks, everyone. I saw some mention of sizing a few pages back but there wasn't a clear consensus. I don't have any custom shirts right now, so I'll probably base it off an existing shirt and tweak it. Luxire, I don't think there's a field for images in the order form, so if I want to send a fit pic and ask for tweaks would I just email that separately?

One a side note, I see that shipping policies have changed recently and US customers are likely to get hit with customs unless it's a "small order." Does anyone know what the threshold for a small order is, or can anyone who's been affected by this in the US say what they were charged for what kind of order?

Also, how do Luxire's "slim fit" RTW shirts fit? Considering throwing one of those into my order as well.

I placed an order for the body measurements shirt as my first order, I see little risk as the test shirt is only $35 and I get to order swatches for the future.

A shame there are not reviews on the nicer fabrics.

None of the off-brand whites are doing it for me. Thinking of going with some G & R whites. The "Everyday" white shirt looks interesting - anyone gone with this one?

Thanks, I didn't know about that. Apologies to all who responded for not looking back further for info on the body measurements. I'm looking back further in the thread now, and it looks like the most recent discussion about getting a good fit is about 50 pages back. I think I understand it better now. Since it looks like it requires a few tries to get a really good fit, has anyone been able to reserve a fabric that they want to use? I don't want to order preliminary shirts to get the fit right only to have a fabric I want for a perfectly fitted shirt go out of stock.

Xpost from the Tailor thread.

Here's a picture of the 1738 collar in action. Fabric is sky blue twill, my favorite light blue shirt so far. What do you think about the collar w.r.t. my silhouette? I would imagine the collar could sit a little higher in the front. Since the collar is unfused, lightly lined and gravity tends to pull it down even further when I am wearing a tie. What do you think?

I would go for a higher collar since your neck is relativly long. A hidden button down would also help when wearing the shirt without a tie.

I've never played around with collars before, only used other peoples'. What would I specify? Just raise the front collar band by 1/2 inch? The back fits pretty well with my jackets.
