Has anyone ordered white fabrics by Grandi & Rubinelli and, if so, any recommendations?

I have an July 23rd order in for the Grandi & Rubinelli White Twill Dobby 140/2*140/2,78*43,107 gms/3-4 Oz,100% Egyptian Cotton.  It seems that there can be some considerable delay in acquiring the G&R fabrics.  Theresa E-mailed me last week and told me that the fabric had still not arrived.   Hopefully it will be worth the wait.  So far it certainly has been.

I wondered about some of the same things as you did and got some input from Luxire on the matter.

Excerpts from my emails with Luxire;

"Best to measure a coat that fits well, adjusting for thickness. Basically, an inch increase in body and sleeve widths should work well." "If you measure a similar jacket, we are all good and no adjustment is required." "The reason is that we measure the garment on the outside. The thickness of the fabric in the garment being measured plays a role in how it will fit as the inside measurement will differ. So, as long as we get to the right inside measurements, we should be good."

So the consensus seems to be measure a similar style jacket and of similar thickness, e.g. wool coat or other similar jackets. Of course you need to adjust measurements where neccesary, for example a peacoat is normally a lot shorter than a coat and so on.

Thanks Xtra, this is super helpful! Another question - does anyone know what the "hand-accent" on peacoat option is?

Thanks for your response. I had forgotten of the lead time necessary to order a shirt in the Grandi & Rubinelli fabrics. I'll have to look at others for a formal shirt I need in late October.

The hand stitching visible on the lapels & other places.

Got it on mine and very much worth it IMO.

G&R was having their summer break till last weekend. Things should move smoother now.

Our own process of ordering the Just-in-time fabrics is now getting better, which will also reduce delays.

Thank you mate.

@Lachyzee & others, may be you can also chip in with your thoughts on the measurements. How much room is there on your peacoat compared to your body measurement?

We are trying to arrive at a standard, given that most people write to us saying they do not have a well fitting coat to measure.

I sent in a coat to be copied so I am not much help.... I'd be too scared to go on measurements alone!

@Luxire Could you please reply to my emails? They're a correction for my order, so kind of time sensitive. Thank you!

@luxire, could you by any chance stock something similar to this navy-twill-flannel sort of fabric?

Edit: It's from Brembana. A navy herringbone would do as well.

Does anyone know how much shipping and duty charges are to Canada? I've read the info on the website but can anyone confirm this for me? I've heard some conflicting accounts of it.
